- Sheffield United have lost nine of their last 14 league games
- The Blades have conceded at least twice in seven of their last nine league matches
- Recommended bet:
Wolves to win & over 2.5 goals

Relegation is looming for bottom club Sheffield United and Blades' supporters must be fearing the worst ahead of their televised trip to Wolves on Sunday.

Sheffield United’s experiences in front of the Sky cameras have not been the best this season, with the Blades suffering 5-0 defeats at home to Brighton and Aston Villa in their two most recent televised encounters, while they were also hammered 8-0 to Newcastle last September.

Chris Wilder’s side did record a 2-1 victory at home to Wolves in November but they have picked up only nine points in their 14 subsequent league outings.

Wolves have won two of their last three Premier League matches, both coming away at Chelsea and Tottenham, and they will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing the division’s leakiest defence, particularly on home territory.

Gary O'Neil’s side have excelled at Molineux this season, losing only four of their 12 games, and will start strong favourites against the basement boys.

Team news

Wolves’ only injury absentee is a big one with Matheus Cunha, who has scored 11 goals and provided seven assists this season, nursing a hamstring problem.

Hee Chan Hwang should continue to deputise in Cunha’s absence, otherwise O'Neil has a fully-fit squad to choose from.

Things are a little more intense for Sheffield United, who have defenders Chris Basham, Max Lowe, George Baldock and John Egan sidelined through injury.

Mason Holgate serves the first match of his three-game suspension while Ben Brereton Diaz and Cameron Archer must be assessed before being given the nod in attack.

The stats

Chris Wilder's Sheffield United are bottom of the table and seven points from safety

Wolves have lost only two of their last 10 Premier League home games, recording wins over Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea in that run.

Wolves have kept only two clean sheets in 12 home league matches this season, with both teams scoring in nine of those fixtures.

Sheffield United have lost nine of their last 13 league matches and they have picked up only five points in 12 away league outings.

The Blades have conceded 65 goals in 25 league games, shipping at least twice in seven of their last nine league matches.

There have been three or more goals in six of Sheffield United’s last seven league matches while over 2.5 goals has landed in seven of Wolves’ last nine.

Prediction

Wolves are expected to make the most of home advantage against a Sheffield United side that have suffered defeat in 18 of their 25 league games this season, conceding a whopping 65 goals.

The Blades boast the worst defence in the division by some way and their last seven league games have seen them concede 21 times at an average of three per outing.

Wilder’s men look Championship bound and their fragile defence could be exposed by Wolves, who will be full of confidence after last weekend’s 2-1 win at Spurs.

Publicidad

The hosts are strong odds-on favourites and they could rack up the goals, which makes them to triumph with over 2.5 goals in the game a worthy wager.

Wolves can be prone to the occasional lapse in concentration defensively and they have kept only two clean sheets in 12 league outings this season.

Wilder's men, having scored in five of their last eight league games, are capable of getting their name on the scoresheet and that enhances the prospect of a high-scoring encounter.
