Over 3.5 goals

Aston Villa's top-four hopes were dealt a big blow by a 4-0 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, while West Ham's own European ambitions were hampered by a home draw with struggling Burnley.

Both sides though go into Sunday's match on the back of impressive wins in Europe on Thursday, with Villa thrashing Ajax 4-0 to progress in the Europa Conference League, while David Moyes' men hammered Freiburg 5-0 to reach the Europa League quarter-finals.

Team news

Moyes could have a fully-fit squad to select from, with only Emerson Palmieri and Maxwel Cornet injury doubts for the Hammers.

Aston Villa have more to be concerned about, with star-striker Ollie Watkins a minot doubt and key midfielder John McGinn suspended. He will join Tyrone Mings, Diego Carlos, Emiliano Buendia and Boubacar Kamara on the sidelines, with Jacob Ramsey the only other doubt.

Prediction

West Ham secured passage to the Europa League quarter-finals on Thursday as they overcame a first-leg deficit to hammer Freiburg 5-0 at the London Stadium and they will hope for more of the same as Aston Villa pay them a visit on Sunday.

The Hammers head into this truncated Premier League gameweek sitting seventh in the table but their five-goal haul in midweek points towards a potential thriller on Sunday afternoon.

They have seen some 20 goals scored across their last five games in all competitions and their last four at home have ended 0-6, 4-2, 2-2 and 5-0 respectively, while they come up against a similarly attack-minded Aston Villa side in London.

The Villans suffered a second-half dismantlement at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur last weekend but they bounced back to thrash Ajax by the same 4-0 scoreline in the Europa Conference League and they will want to consolidate their top-four position with a result in London.

That 4-0 triumph at Villa Park means that four of their last five fixtures have gone over 3.5 goals and their last 10 games have produced a massive 38 goals, with seven of those hitting four goals or more.

Both West Ham and Aston Villa have seen over 3.5 goals land in at least half of their Premier League games this season and both have an average of well over three goals per game this term, so a high-scoring affair is expected.
