The final international break of the year has been and gone so the focus for players and teams across Europe is now to end 2024 on a high.

There are plenty of huge clashes taking place on the continent this Sunday, including a Basque derby and a massive dust-up in Serie A between Napoli and Roma.

There is Premier League action too but we have taken the time to pick out at least one game from Europe’s other four big leagues to select five teams to back this Sunday, combining for an 18/1 acca with LiveScore Bet.

Given his exploits with Brighton in the Premier League, it is no surprise to see that Fabian Hurzeler’s departure has left St Pauli in a sorry state with the promoted outfit struggling in the Bundesliga.

The Neighbourhood Kickers have amassed just eight points from their opening 10 matches and a trip to an in-form Borussia Monchengladbach is unlikely to yield an addition to that lowly tally.

Gladbach have been in great form at home, winning their last three at Borussia-Park by an aggregate score of 8-3 and their draw with title-chasing Leipzig last time suggests they should have far too much for a struggling St Pauli.

When considering they are onto their third manager of the season already, it is hard to have any faith in Roma ahead of their trip to the side who entered this weekend top of Serie A, Napoli.

Claudio Ranieri has been brought out of retirement to clear up the mess at the Stadio Olimpico but even his vast experience is unlikely to be enough to take down Napoli, who drew with the champions Inter last time and recently put together a six-game winning streak.

Lazio are one of the form sides in Serie A under Marco Baroni

While their city rivals have struggled, Lazio have been thriving this term, winning 10 of their last 11 matches, and Marco Baroni’s men can see off a side who have just three victories in their last nine away games.

Each of Lazio’s last six matches has seen them take the win and they are likely to have too much for Bologna, who were hit hard by the departures of key men and their manager Thiago Motta over the summer.

Nice have put together a seven-match unbeaten run at home, suggesting they should have far too much for their visitors, who have struggled for positive results of late.

Strasbourg have been beaten by a two-goal margin in each of their last two Ligue 1 games and the fact they have gone nine matches without an away win makes them easy to bet against on the French Riviera.

The trend of Basque derbies is that they tend to go the way of the hosts, with each of the last five being won by the home side, with Sunday’s showdown set to be no different.

Athletic Bilbao have been sensational at home for some while now, losing just one of their last 30 matches at the San Mames, and are fancied to see off their bitter rivals Real Sociedad, who have lost their last three Basque derbies as the away side by an aggregate score of 8-1.
