Newcastle hope to make Wolfsburg midfielder Felix Nmecha their first summer signing.

The one-cap German international, 22, is a product of Manchester City's academy and also represented England at youth level.

After making two senior appearances for the Citizens, Nmecha followed his brother Lukas to Wolfsburg in the summer of 2021 and has flourished in his homeland.

The Telegraph suggest Eddie Howe is a big fan of the 6ft 2in youngster's energetic, box-to-box style and the Toon are keen to strike a deal quickly.

Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund have also been tracking Nmecha, with a fee of around £15million thought to be what his current employers are demanding.

He made 30 appearances in the Bundesliga last term, scoring three goals and registering five assists as Die Wolfe missed out on continental qualification by one point.

After qualifying for the Champions League, Newcastle hope to bulk up their squad but are limited by financial fair play restrictions.

While they are expected to make at least two big-name signings, Nmecha is viewed as a low-cost addition with huge long-term potential.
