Tottenham have completed the £40million signing of James Maddison on a five-year deal.

The England midfielder becomes Spurs' third signing of the summer after Dejan Kulusevski joined permanently and Guglielmo Vicario made the switch from Serie A side Empoli.

Maddison, 26, enjoyed a five-year spell at Leicester but leaves the Foxes behind following their relegation from the Premier League.

A creative midfielder had been high on Tottenham's priority list and they have finally landed the FA Cup winner's signature.

Former Coventry and Norwich ace Maddison enjoyed another stellar campaign despite his side's relegation, notching 10 goals and nine assists in 30 league appearances.

The England international introduced himself to the Spurs faithful on social media, saying: "Hello Tottenham Hotspur fans, James Maddison here. I can't wait to meet you all. Come on you Spurs."

He also briefly spoke about the move: "I feel a hunger about the place and I'm ready to get going."

Maddison's arrival hands the North Londoners a big boost as they look forward to an exciting new era under Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian coach, who was appointed as Tottenham's new manager earlier this month, will have had a glimpse of what his new recruit can do when he turned out for England a few weeks ago.

The three-cap international played for 70 minutes alongside new team-mate Harry Kane as the Three Lions beat Malta.

Newcastle were also reportedly targeting Maddison but the coveted star opted for Spurs over a switch to Tyneside.
