Tottenham to win and both teams to score

It’s the battle of London's two white-shirted clubs on Sunday as Tottenham host Fulham in N17, with both sides hoping to close the gap on the top four.

Ange Postecoglou's Spurs head into the weekend three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, but have a vastly superior goal difference, with the side brimming with confidence after last weekend’s stunning victory at the Etihad Stadium.

Fulham, meanwhile, despite being just one point behind their capital city rivals, have won just one of their last three away matches and were comprehensively beaten 4-1 at Craven Cottage by Wolves in their last Premier League fixture.

Team news

Postecoglou could be without as many as seven first-team squad members, with the match coming just too soon for Cristian Romero as he recovers from a toe issue.

He joins the likes of Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Rodrigo Bentancur, Mikey Moore, Wilson Odobert and Richarlison in watching this London derby from the sidelines.

Marco Silva’s injury list is far shorter, with Joachim Andersen, Harrison Reed and Jorge Cuenca the only confirmed absentees for this contest.

Last week’s goalscorer Alex Iwobi is likely to keep his place in the starting XI, while the likes of Harry Wilson, Adama Traore and Timothy Castagne will be vying for starts after coming off the bench in the Wolves defeat.

Marco Silva will want to see a reaction to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Wolves last time out.

The stats

Tottenham have won six of their last eight home matches in all competitions, while only Brentford (18) have scored more home goals than Spurs' 16 in the Premier League.

Publicidad

Only five sides have netted fewer away goals this season than Fulham’s seven and the Cottagers have never scored more than once at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Four of the last five meetings between the two sides in North London have seen both teams score.

Spurs have failed to score in just one home match this season.

Prediction

Spurs will have the wind in their sails after last week’s spectacular victory over the Citizens and the hosts should make home advantage count to take all three points on Sunday.

The Lilywhites have won seven of their 10 home matches in all competitions this season and boast an impressive record over Fulham in front of their own fans, winning eight of their last 10 home meetings in all competitions.

The Cottagers will be reeling from their humiliating loss last weekend and they have won just three of their eight away matches in all competitions this season.

However, they have scored in all but one match in all competitions, so it would be no surprise if they managed a consolation strike in North London.
