Sheffield Wednesday vs Leicester predictions: Foxes should have few issues seeing off sorry Owls
- Leicester have conceded just ten goals in 17 Championship games this season
- Sheffield Wednesday have scored in just three of their eight league home matches this term
- Recommended bet: Leicester to win to zero
A total of 36 points separate Championship table-toppers Leicester and basement boys Sheffield Wednesday, who will be desperate not to allow that gulf to be expressed in the result at Hillsborough on Wednesday.
The Owls have tasted victory just once all season and will not have been pleased to see Leicester bounce back from defeats to Leeds and Middlesbrough by beating Watford at the King Power on Saturday.
Team news
Wednesday will have to do without striker Josh Windass, who is suspended after picking up five bookings, so Ashley Fletcher is expected to deputise. Right-back Juan Delgado is missing with a hip problem.
Former Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks returns for the Foxes after missing the last game through suspension, while striker Jamie Vardy will be hoping for a start after scoring both goals after coming off the bench in the 2-0 win over the Hornets.
The stats
Leicester have conceded just ten goals in their 17 league games this season
Both teams have scored in just one of Sheffield Wednesday’s last seven home league matches
Five of Leicester’s last seven league games have featured fewer than three goals
Sheffield Wednesday have won one of their last eight league home matches
The Owls have scored in just three of their eight at home in the league this term
Prediction
The joy Sheffield Wednesday felt when they gained promotion to the Championship in May now seems a distant memory as the Owls have endured a miserable first few months back in the second tier.
They are already ten points adrift from safety and things are unlikely to get much better when they get a visit from Leicester on Wednesday.
There was shock at the Foxes surprise relegation last season, but they look to be making light work of getting back in the big time, even if they had to recover from defeats to Leeds and Middlesbrough with a win over Watford on Saturday.
They conceded in victories at Wednesday’s fellow strugglers Rotherham - the only team the Owls have beaten - and QPR, but it is difficult to see the home side laying a glove on them as they have failed to score in five of their eight Hillsborough games this season.
The Foxes may have got their slip-up out of their system and with Jamie Vardy back among the goals in the 2-0 success over the Hornets at the weekend, that spells trouble for the struggling Yorkshire outfit.
