Scotland's Billy Gilmour looked to the positives of the international break despite defeat to France in Lille.

The Brighton midfielder gave his side a shock lead early, which lasted all but five minutes before Benjamin Pavard levelled for the hosts.

Pavard then put Les Blues in front after 24 minutes played, with Kylian Mbappe extending the advantage from the penalty spot before the break.

Kingsley Coman smashed a second-half strike in off the bar to complete the victory in style.

Gilmour urged towards the positives of the international break, with Scotland having already secured qualification for Euro 2024.

Speaking to BBC Sportsound, he said: "We have a good team in there.

"I know the results don't show it but we'll take the positives into our last two group games. Tonight, we thought we could have done a bit more, but that's football.

"Another Euros, we're all delighted and looking forward to the summer. Two games to go, though."

Set-piece problems

Scotland boss Steve Clarke was especially critical of the way his side defended set-pieces against France.

Speaking to Viaplay, he said: "Top teams are capable of scoring from open play, so you can't concede off set-plays.

"The first one is a free header of a corner, so we will look at that and try to do better.

"The second one is from the second phase of a set-play, so we need to look at that one as well.

"And the third one probably kills the game. It's a really soft penalty decision.

"I don't know why VAR has to get involved, I don't know why the referee can't be stronger and stick with his original decision to let the play go on. Then, it gets difficult."
