- Roma have won 10 of their last 11 home games in all competitions
- Atalanta have lost all of their away games to sides 14th and above in Serie A this term
- Recommended bet: Roma to win

Just one point separates Roma and Atalanta in the Serie A standings ahead of their showdown at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

The pair are on the fringes of the Champions League chase in Italy and a win for either side would be massive to their hopes of a European finish.

While the visitors may be seen as the form side going into this match, home advantage could well swing things in favour of Jose Mourinho’s men.

Team news

Roma remain without Tammy Abraham and Chris Smalling who have both spent much of the season on the sidelines, with Evan Ndicka also unavilable after departing for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Atalanta have lost former Everton man Ademola Lookman to AFCON, while summer signing El Bilal Toure is still ruled out by a thigh problem.

With those two unavailable, former AC Milan attacking midfielder Charles De Ketelaere should partner Gianluca Scamacca up top.

The stats

Gian Piero Gasperini's Atalanta have already lost five of their nine away games in Serie A this season

Roma have won six of their last seven home games in Serie A.

The only game the Giallorossi failed to win in that stretch saw them reduced to nine men in a 1-1 draw with Fiorentina.

Atalanta have lost to nil in consecutive visits to Bologna and Torino.

Roma have scored 2.33 goals per home game this season in the league.

Romelu Lukaku has scored in four of his last five games for Roma.

Only three teams have claimed more points across the last eight games in Serie A than Roma.

Prediction

Atalanta are fancied to trouble Roma this weekend having won five of their last six games, but la Dea have not been particularly great in Serie A this term.

In fact, the visitors have claimed just 10 points from their last eight games in the league, while their away record has been really poor.

Atalanta have been beaten five times in nine league trips this season, only avoiding defeat in four visits to the bottom six.

That makes the second half of their season look incredibly tricky, starting with this visit to a Roma side who are flying at home.

The Giallorossi have won 10 of their last 11 home games at the Stadio Olimpico in all competitions.

Publicidad

In the league, they have claimed six wins from seven at their own ground and have scored 21 of their 30 league goals in home matches this term.

Jose Mourinho has not been a universal hit for Roma but his side have made the most of home advantage in recent months.

With so little between the pair in the standings, the contrast between Roma’s great home form and Atalanta’s poor away record against decent to good teams should be the difference between in Sunday's clash.

Roma are well-priced for another home win off the back of a 2-0 victory over champions Napoli, so they can be expected to continue their fine home run with three points this weekend.
