Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey has joined Scottish champions Rangers on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy.

Ex-Arsenal star Ramsey, 31, heads to Ibrox after falling out of the first-team picture in Turin, thanks largely to a spate of injury issues.

However, the bulk of the Welsh international’s £400,000-per-week wages will still be covered by the Italians for the duration of his stay in Glasgow.

Ramsey expressed his delight at joining Rangers after putting pen to paper and revealed he had chosen the Scottish outfit over a number of other suitors.

He said: “I am really pleased to be joining a club like Rangers, where there is so much to look forward to between now and May.

“I had a number of offers on the table, but none matched the magnitude of this club, with European football and the chance to play in front of 50,000 fans every other week.

“I have had some fantastic conversations with the manager and [Sporting Director] Ross Wilson, and I’m really looking forward to working with both of them, and to meeting the supporters.”

Ramsey brings a wealth of experience to Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side and will hope to play a key role in what is set to be a pivotal few months for the Gers.

The central midfielder has 71 caps for his country and managed 65 goals in all competitions for Arsenal, with 40 coming in the Premier League.

His new club sit two points ahead of bitter rivals Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership after 23 games and face a blockbuster two-legged Europa League tie with Borussia Dortmund next month.

The Welshman could make his Rangers debut in Wednesday's Old Firm clash at Celtic Park.
