It is the first of a two-day meeting from Newmarket on Friday, where there are eight races from HQ.

The feature contest is a Listed race for fillies over 6f and the going heading into this meeting is described as 'Good'.

We have picked five horses for you to follow.

12.45pm - 888sport British EBF Novice Stakes (Div I) (7f)

Sea, The Stars colt SWASHBUCKLER, is one of only a handful of runners in this novice contest that have already seen a racecourse.

Jane Chapple-Hyam's colt finished fifth of 15 on his debut over this C&D earlier this month.

Expect to see a much better performance from the well-bred two-year-old on this second appearance.

His yard are in good form at the moment with their novices, and this may be the latest one to record a success.

LiveScore selection: Swashbuckler

1.55pm - 888sport British EBF Conditions Stakes (6f)

BAHRAIN PRIDE opened his career with back-to-back successes over this distance at Windsor and Ripon.

He has been unable to add to his tally in three attempts since then.

Simon and Ed Crisford's runner returned to the track after 12 months off when he finished second of five at Kempton (6f) just over three weeks ago.

This will be this horse's second outing since having wind surgery.

He has low mileage on the clock for his age and we may not have seen the best of him yet.

The two-time winner looks the one to beat.

2.30pm - Irish Stallion Farms EBF "Bosra Sham" Fillies' Stakes (6f)

Trainer Clive Cox will be hoping Benefit can make it three wins from three

Clive Cox's filly BENEFIT has done nothing wrong so far in two starts.

She has a 100% record, with victories coming at Wolverhampton (6f, AW) and Leicester (6f).

This is obviously a step up in class but the daughter of Acclamation can continue to improve.

The Cheveley Park-owned runner has produced a strong burst of speed to get up late on in both of her outings.

Expect her to be ridden patiently and asked to quicken inside the final couple of furlongs once again.

3.05pm - 888sport What's Your Thinking Handicap (2m)

A step up to this distance of 2m was appreciated by WHITEHAVEN last time out at Haydock as he was able to record his first win of the season.

He showed he had the stamina for this trip as he was full of running inside the closing stages, eventually scoring by just over four lengths.

Hughie Morrison's runner has gone up 6lb for his latest victory, which seems fair.

Champion Jockey Oisin Murphy is on board again. He has an excellent chance of a follow up success.

LiveScore selection: Whitehaven

3.40pm - 888sport Handicap (1m2f)

In his four starts so far, FIREWORKS has yet to run a bad race.

His sole success came at Beverley over their extended 7f trip in what was his opening outing since being gelded.

William Haggas' runner stepped up in trip to 1m1f last time.Aand although he finished fourth of eight, he was only 1¾ lengths behind the winner.

The son of Kingman is likely to keep on improving. He remains off the same mark as his last start and he has cheekpieces on for the first time.

The headgear might just make a big difference and help him to land his second career success.
