A 3-2 victory at Cardiff before the international break gave Norwich boss David Wagner a lifeline after some dismal results and the German will hope to boost his position with a home win over Championship strugglers QPR on Saturday.

Rangers are second-from-bottom after failing to win any of their last 11 matches, but new manager Marti Cifuentes has at least helped them stop the rot with draws against potential Rotherham and Bristol City.

Team news

Shane Duffy played for Ireland in midweek and could return to the Norwich side on Saturday.

The Canaries will benefit from the availability of experienced defender Shane Duffy after he missed the win at Cardiff through suspension. His inclusion looks to be the only likely change following that success.

Changes are also set to be minimal for Rangers too as they adjust to life under their new manager. Cifuentes can call upon Ilias Chair after he completed a ban but Paul Smyth will have to serve his own disciplinary absence.

The stats

QPR have lost six of their last eight matches in the Championship

Both teams have scored in each of Norwich’s last seven games

QPR have not won any of their last 11 league matches

Publicidad

Only Ipswich have scored more Championship goals this season than the Canaries

Norwich have conceded eight goals in their last three home games

Prediction

Hopes were high that Norwich would make a push for promotion back to the Premier League this season after they took 13 points from their opening five Championship matches, but things have turned sour and they return from the international break in a lowly 16th spot.

One consolation is that Saturday’s opponents QPR are in a more perilous predicament, but it is difficult to trust the Canaries to get back to winning ways at Carrow Road after three successive defeats on their own patch.

They came from behind with two late goals to win 3-2 at Cardiff last time to give under-fire manager Wagner a boost, but Rangers have started to make some progress under new boss Cifuentes after he replaced Gareth Ainsworth.

QPR will fancy their chances of scoring against a team who have the joint-worst defensive record in the division after draws against Rotherham and Bristol City and with only one team having scored more goals than City, both teams can score in a game that features more than two goals.
