Injury-plagued Norwich City have stumbled significantly in recent weeks and it could be another tough afternoon for them when Bristol City head to Carrow Road on Saturday.

With injuries and suspensions hitting Norwich hard, the Canaries find themselves down in 12th place in the Championship, with opponents Bristol City a point and a place above them on the table.

The Robins suffered a late defeat at the hands of Sheffield United in midweek to bring to an end an eight-match unbeaten run in league, and Saturday provides a good opportunity for Liam Manning’s side to add to their points tally on the road.

Team news

As mentioned, few teams would envy Norwich’s injury list at present, while veteran midfielder Kenny McLean is also currently suspended.

Goalkeeper Angus Gunn is expected to be out of action until later this month, as are Anis Ben Slimane and Marcelino Nunez.

Liam Gibbs, Onel Hernandez and Ashley Barnes are doubts for the weekend, while Gabe Forsyth and Josh Sargent might have to wait until the new year until they are ready for action.

Bristol City do have their own injuries to contend with, as the likes of Joe Williams, George Tanner, Ross McCrorie, Scott Twine, Sam Bells and Ayman Benarous are all working their way back to fitness.

Meanwhile, defender Robert Dickie is suspended for the trip to Carrow Road.

The stats

Johannes Hoff Thorup's side have struggled in recent weeks

Norwich City are level with frontrunners Sunderland as the teams with the most goals in the Championship this season with 23.

Publicidad

Johannes Hoff Thorup has not seen his side win in their last five Championship games, with three consecutive draws followed by back-to-back defeats.

Norwich are unbeaten in their last 22 home games in the Championship, with their last league defeat at Carrow Road coming back on November 5 2023.

No team have recorded more draws in the league this season than Bristol City, with the Robins drawing half of their 14 games so far.

Bristol City have drawn two of their last four league games away from Ashton Gate.

Prediction

Seven of Norwich’s last nine home games in the Championship have ended in draws and it would be little surprise to see another stalemate at Carrow Road on Saturday.

Unbeaten in their last four away games, the Robins have proven a tough nut to crack on their travels.

With the injury crisis at Carrow Road hopefully coming towards an end in the coming weeks, Norwich need to keep the points ticking over and they might well have to settle for a draw this weekend.
