There are 12 more Euro 2024 qualifiers for football fans to look forward to on Monday evening, which includes Group C leaders England against North Macedonia at Old Trafford and World Cup runners-up France at home to Greece.

Elsewhere, Wales face a tough trip to Turkey, hoping to avenge Friday’s 4-2 loss at home to Armenia, while Northern Ireland entertain Kazakhstan at Windsor Park.

Latvia are rooted to the foot of Group D, having lost their opening two qualifiers, and more misery may follow for them in Armenia.

To their credit, Latvia have not been disgraced in their first two assignments, going down 1-0 in Wales and narrowly missing out at home in a five-goal thriller to Turkey.

Armenia were also beaten by Turkey, losing 2-1 at home in March, but Friday’s 4-2 win at Wales was much more like it and is by far the best recent form on offer.

So while Latvia are improving, they have failed to win any of their last seven internationals in 90 minutes, which includes suffering defeat at the Republic of Ireland and at home to minnows Moldova.

Just like England in Group C, Switzerland are a perfect three from three in Group I and they should maintain their 100 per cent start with a home victory over second-placed Romania.

Having defeated Belarus 5-0 and Israel 3-0 in March, the Swiss returned to action on Monday with a 2-1 win in Andorra, meaning they have triumphed in eight of their last 11 internationals.

Romania are also unbeaten, having claimed seven points from their first three qualifiers, but they were held to a goalless draw in Kosovo last time out.

This test in Luzern is considerably tougher, however, as the Swiss are notoriously strong on home soil.

Wales failed to live up to expectations when suffering a disappointing 4-2 defeat at home to Armenia on Friday and there is little reason to expect an improved display in Turkey.

Robert Page’s side had taken the lead through Daniel James inside ten minutes but a shocking defensive display saw it all fall apart.

Things got worse for Wales late on with Kieffer Moore's red card and he is absent in Samsun, which nullifies their attacking power, especially following Gareth Bale’s recent retirement.

This is a must-win contest for the visitors but Turkey, who have won eight of their last 11 internationals, should have their measure.

France have won all three of their Euro 2024 qualifiers without conceding a goal
Publicidad

France have responded well to last year’s World Cup final heartbreak against Argentina, winning all three of their Euro 2022 qualifiers to resume control of Group B.

An easy 4-0 win at home to the Netherlands in March was followed by a 1-0 victory at the Republic of Ireland only three days later.

France returned to action on Friday with another cosy 3-0 victory at Gibraltar and they can maintain their perfect start against Greece, who lost on trips to Cyprus and Hungary within the last year.

Les Bleus have arguably the deepest squad of any European nation and class should come to the fore at the Stade de France.
