It's the jumps track at Newcastle on Tuesday afternoon as Gosforth Park gives a rest to their Tapeta surface.

They race from 1pm-4.50pm with conditions set to be 'Good to soft-soft in places' and we've selected five to follow on the afternoon.

1pm - Go Racing With Vickers.Bet Novices' Hurdle (2m4½f)

Authorized gelding Tfou was well-touted for a bumper at Ayr in January on heavy ground, finishing second behind a winner that made an easy winning start next time over hurdles.

Nicky Richards' team were flying at the weekend and he's a player on jumps bow.

Donna's Double won here last month over shorter, though was fortunate to have seen market leader Onward Route bow out at the second last when clear in the lead. More is needed therefore under a penalty.

HASTY BROOK was nothing special in two Irish bumpers last spring but certainly improved to bag a maiden hurdle at Clonmel (2m½f, heavy) in the New Year, despite being off for 292 days. He has joined Rebecca Menzies from Joseph O'Brien since and could give his new yard another winner in a real rich spell for them.

LiveScore Selection: Hasty Brook

2.05pm - Vickers.Bet And LHS Champion Racing Novices' Handicap Hurdle Division 1 (2m4½f)

Smokey The Bandit may prove popular here after his runner-up effort at the course last time. That was over just shy of three miles and he's carrying top-weight now, so a better option is ECONOMIC EDITOR.

He's 0-5 over timber but has quickly raised his game since going into handicaps. A good run at Ayr in January was followed with a neck-second at Wetherby last month over 2m3½f. Cheekpieces go on now and he's got a decent shot at going one spot better.

LiveScore Selection: Economic Editor

This looks another good spot for BAVINGTON BOB. It was a fine weekend for trainer Ann Hamilton and this seven-year-old has won all three starts over fences since finishing second at Sedgefield in December's introduction.

He showed a fine attitude over this C&D in January having looked in trouble at one stage and again displayed an appetite for the scrap at Carlisle last month. Another 5lb rise may not prevent him scoring again, with class-dropping Mac Tottie perhaps the one to make him work hardest.

LiveScore Selection: Bavington Bob

3.50pm - Vickers.Bet Loves Last Horse Standing Handicap Hurdle (2m)

Dan Skelton looks to have a leading hope at Newcastle in the shape of Greatest Star

Homme Public was promising last spring for Oliver Greenall and December's reappearance at Haydock (2m3fm heavy) was encouraging too, but his subsequent efforts at that track and Wetherby have been much less so. He could still come good, but GREATEST STAR looks a contender for the Skelton team.

Winner of a Southwell maiden on second hurdle start in November, January's Warwick third on handicap bow came behind Punctuation — a winner at Newbury on Saturday — and the form generally looks reliable. From an unchanged mark, he's got excellent credentials.

LiveScore Selection: Greatest Star

4.20pm - Join The Bet Club At Vickers.Bet Mares' Handicap Chase (2m4f)

Another Theatre comes into this off the back of a positive run at Carlisle early last month and will have eyes on bettering than runner-up finish now for the Phil Kirby team, but FULL OF SURPRISES is preferred in this one.

Neil Mulholland's mare shaped nicely post wind-surgery when second at Catterick in December on her second outing over fences and she looked set to give subsequent winner Nocte Volatus a race at Doncaster in January, only to make a shuddering mistake two out. This is a weaker race on paper and she's had plenty time to get over that error.
