Connections excited by Baaeed's potential

Connections are excited by the what the future holds for Baaeed following his impressive victory at Newmarket last week.

The Shadwell Estates-owned three-year-old was one of the standout performers of the July Festival on the Rowley Mile, as he claimed a commanding four-length success in the Listed Sir Henry Cecil Stakes on Thursday.

Baaeed is now three wins from three at the start of his career and Angus Gold, who is Shadwell's racing manager, believes the colt has the potential to deliver further success.

"He has a lovely mind and is a really exciting horse," Gold said. "I loved the way he travelled [at Newmarket] and it must mean he's a pretty decent horse."

Gold has also revealed that a run at Glorious Goodwood later this month is unlikely for Baaeed, but he is being lined up for some of the upcoming top mile races.

"I've only briefly spoken to William [Haggas, trainer] to see what we do, but I think Goodwood will come too soon," Gold added.

"His options include races like the Celebration Mile or even the Jacques le Marois if we wanted to go straight in at the deep end, and looking towards Champions Day there's the QEII or the Champion if we do decide to go further."

Group One success for Laws Of Indices

Laws Of Indices was a Group One winner on Sunday for trainer Ken Condon, as he claimed a hugely determined victory in the Haras d'Etreham Prix Jean Prat at Deauville.

Led home by jockey Olivier Peslier, Laws Of Indices held off a series of challenges during the final two furlongs to win by a head from fellow Irish contender Thunder Moon.

The victory was also the third at the highest level for trainer Condon, who had previously savoured Group One success with Romanised in the 2018 Irish 2,000 Guineas and the Jacques le Marois at Deauville the following year.

Pearls Galore set for Group One shot

Pearls Galore looks set to compete at the top level after running out a comfortable winner of the Group Three Irish Stallion Farms EBF Brownstown Stakes at Fairyhouse.

The Paddy Twomey-trained filly was third on her seasonal reappearance at Leopardstown last month, but she appeared to be the horse to beat on Sunday after moving into contention during the final two furlongs, eventually prevailing by two lengths from nearest challenger Valeria Messalina.

Twomey has now confirmed the four-year-old is likely to make the step up to Group One level, with a run in Matron Stakes at Leopardstown appearing to be on the cards.

"She's a very well-bred filly and this race has been the plan all year as I wanted to make her a Group winner," Twomey told reporters.

"I have her in the Matron (Stakes, Leopardstown) and I'd say that will probably be the plan."

Night Hunter in line for Dubai

Night Hunter was an impressive winner on the all-weather at Chelmsford earlier this month, but trainer Saeed bin Suroor believes he may be better suited to running in Dubai.

The four-year-old is the son of champion dirt horse Tapit, but he only made his debut in a Maiden Stakes at Leicester last month, finishing just behind the impressive Baaeed.

That strong showing was then followed up by his maiden victory at Chelmsford on July 4 - a performance that impressed Bin Suroor - but the trainer believes the Godolphin-owned colt's future may ultimately lie on the dirt in Dubai.

"I think he's more a horse for Dubai - then we can get him on dirt - but so far he's doing everything well," Bin Suroor said. "He's a nice horse for the future, and I've always liked him. It's why I kept him in training."
