Italy will celebrate the 125th anniversary of the creation of the Italian Football Federation by wearing a throwback kit in Thursday's Nations League showdown with Spain.

The adidas design is based on the strip used when the Italians made their international debut in a 6-2 win over France in 1910.

A white top and shorts feature gold details and the kit is rounded off with black socks.

Italian FA president Gabriele Gravina said: "Thanks to the collaboration with adidas, we are celebrating the 125th anniversary of the founding of the FIGC with an iconic jersey steeped in history and modernity.

"The anniversary kit perfectly interprets our vision for the development of soccer — values and deep roots represent the backbone of a movement that looks to the future and change without qualms or hesitation.

"What's more, it is particularly significant that honoring the federation's birthday is the national team, which represents the apex of a broad and articulated system in which more than one million card-carrying members identify themselves.

Italy are hoping to win the Nations League

"I am sure that this limited edition kit will also be very successful, like the home and away collections launched last January."

Italy face Spain in the Nations League semi-finals with the winner taking on the Netherlands or Croatia in Sunday's final.

The kit is available online, in adidas stores, on the FIGC store and at some authorised retailers.

Leeds whizkid Wilfried Gnonto was chosen to model the new kit
