- Ipswich have won their last eight home matches in the Championship
- They have scored 25 goals in that run
- Norwich have scored in their last 13 visits to Portman Road
- Recommended bet: Ipswich to win and both teams to score

Saturday lunchtime will see the first Old Farm Derby of the season, and the first since 2019, when highflying Ipswich welcome bitter rivals Norwich to Portman Road for what promises to be an exciting and feisty affair.

The Tractor Boys have failed to beat the Canaries in 12 attempts, with their last win coming way back in 2009, but they are enjoying an excellent return to life in the Championship and are pushing for automatic promotion so they should be confident of breaking that streak.

Norwich are languishing in mid-table and have struggled for consistency all season, but their record at Portman Road is impressive and they will look to run their rivals close on Saturday.

Team news

Former Norwich loanee Brandon Williams went off with a knock in Tuesday’s 2-1 win at Watford and could miss out for Ipswich alongside long-term absentee Lee Evans. Janoi Donacien is back in training and could make the squad.

The Canaries are enduring an ongoing injury crisis at the centre-back position, with Jacob Sorenson, Grant Hanley and Ben Gibson all sidelined alongside forwards Josh Sargent and Hwang Ui-jo.

The stats

Ipswich have won their last eight home matches in the Championship, scoring 25 goals in that run.

Norwich have lost six of their last nine away matches.

Both teams have scored in nine of Ipswich’s last ten home games, including all of the last six.

Publicidad

The Tractor Boys’ last win over their rivals came in 2009, 12 meetings ago.

Norwich have scored in their last 13 visits to Portman Road.

The score has finished 1-1 in four of the last six Old Farms.

Ipswich have not beaten local rivals Norwich at Portman Road since 2009.

Prediction

Ipswich have shown no signs of struggling to readapt to life in the Championship, being in the top two for the majority of the campaign and being the highest scorers in the division with 45 goals already this term.

They will be keen to end their 12-game winless run against their rivals on Saturday and they look set to do so, having won their last eight home league matches and scored 25 goals in that run.

However, they have not been the best defensively at Portman Road and nine of their last ten home matches have seen both sides find the net, which will give Norwich some encouragement.

Another promising sign for the Canaries is that they have scored in their last 13 visits to Ipswich and, having netted in all 13 of their away matches this term, they should be backed to land a blow against their rivals.

The title-chasing Tractor Boys should still be too strong for their visitors, who have lost six of their last nine away games, but their far-from-watertight defence looks set to concede in victory once again.
