- Stoke have lost four of their last five Championship games without scoring.
- Huddersfield have only lost one of their last ten home meetings with the Potters.
- Recommended bet: Huddersfield to win

Neil Warnock will take charge of Huddersfield Town for the last time on Wednesday after the club announced they are looking for a longer-term managerial charge and Terriers fans will undoubtedly give the veteran boss a huge send-off after his most recent stint with the club.

After suffering a slow start to the season, Warnock has guided his side to successive wins and will be eager to sign off in style against a Stoke City outfit who have struggled over the last few weeks.

Team news

Jonathan Hogg should recover from a minor knock in time to start for Huddersfield and wing-back Jaheim Headley could make a return to the starting line-up.

Publicidad

Tom Lees and Danny Ward remain injury doubts and Oliver Turton and Loick Ayina are both ruled out.

Dwight Gayle will hope to start up front for the visitors, but Emre Tezgel, Lewis Baker and Enda Stevens are all sidelined.

Andre Vidigal, Ryan Mmaee and Ki-Jana Hoever are all fitness doubts but may recover in time to feature for the Potters.

The stats

Huddersfield have only lost one of their last ten home meetings with Stoke.

Publicidad

Stoke have lost four of their last five Championship matches, failing to score in each of those defeats.

Huddersfield have won their last two league games.

Huddersfield have only lost three of their 11 home league matches since Neil Warnock took charge in February.

Stoke are winless in six Championship away fixtures, losing four of them and scoring only one goal in the process.

Alex Neil will be eager to halt the slide in form of his Stoke City side.

Prediction

Warnock came out of retirement to save Huddersfield from relegation last season, but a poor start of the season has prompted a change in approach from the owners and Wednesday’s home assignment against Stoke will be the 74-year-old’s last game in charge.

Fortunately for Warnock, he should be able to ride off into the sunset with a 761st win under his belt after turning the Terriers’ fortunes around recently.

The hosts have won back-to-back games against West Bromwich Albion and Watford and have only lost three of 11 home Championship games since Warnock took charge in February, while they face an opposition side on a downward trend in Stoke.

The visiting Potters have lost four of their last five Championship games and have failed to score in each of these defeats.

Things get even worse when City go on their travels, with Alex Neil’s side failing to win each of their last six league trips and scoring just one goal in this sequence.

Town have only lost one of their last ten home meetings with Stoke and won the corresponding fixture 3-1 last season. With form and a raucous home crowd on their side, expect them to take all three points on Wednesday.
