Wolves to win to nil

Just two points separate Everton and Wolves as both teams hope to put some breathing distance between themselves and the bottom three when they meet at Goodison Park on Wednesday night.

Pressure is mounting on Toffees’ boss Sean Dyche as his side made it four games in a row without scoring with a 4-0 defeat at Manchester United at the weekend.

With just two wins in the Premier League in 13 games, the Merseysiders are barely treading water right now and their lack of goals continues to be a worry for Dyche and his squad.

Wolves have also won just two games this season but, while Everton have scored just 10 goals this season, Gary O’Neil’s side have netted 22.

Itis very much a six-pointer at the bottom end of the table at Goodison on Wednesday and a defeat for either manager will see that pressure piled on even more.

Team news

Dyche will have a decision to make up front after the decision to replace Dominic Calvert-Lewin with Beto failed to work out against United.

Publicidad

Dele Alli (groin), Timothy Iroegbunam (ankle), James Garner (back) are all set to miss Wednesday’s game, while Youssef Chermiti (ankle) and Armando Broja (calf) are both doubts for the hosts.

As for Wolves, Portuguese goalkeeper Jose Sa had a poor game in a 4-2 defeat to Bournemouth last time out and Sam Johnstone will be pushing for a return between the sticks.

Yerson Mosquera, Boubacar Traore, Enso Medina and Sasa Kalajdzic are all out due to knee injuries, while wing-back Nelson Semedo is absent due to suspension.

Pedro Lima faces a race against time to show he’s match-fit for the trip north to Merseyside.

Jose Sa is faces a fight for his place after a disappointing display in Wolves' 4-2 home loss to Bournemouth.

The stats

No team has scored fewer goals than Everton’s 10 in the Premier League this season, while the Toffees have only scored once in their last three games at Goodison Park.

Publicidad

Wolves have won all of their last three games away at Everton, with the West Midlands outfit conceding just one goal in that run of successes.

Prediction

Given Everton’s lack of goals and the fact Wolves won to nil in both of their last two meetings, it would be little surprise to see the trend continue this midweek.

The Toffees are not creating enough in the final third and are without a goal in their last four games, while Wolves have scored 10 goals in that time.

The visitors should be able to shut out this toothless Toffees side on their way to another valuable three points on the road in what is likely to be a very low-scoring affair
