Aston Villa will have spent the week celebrating as Tottenham's defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday ensured Unai Emery's Villans would be playing Champions League football next season.

And they are unlikely to be the only jubilant side at Selhurst Park this weekend as Crystal Palace seem to be a team heading in the right direction under Oliver Glasner, with Eagles fans dreaming of what next season could hold.

With both sides in party mode, an exciting game could unfold, with a regular scoresheet occupier fancied to make an impact on the final day of a thrilling Premier League season.

Team news

Naouirou Ahamada is suspended for the Eagles after his two quickfire yellow cards against Wolves last weekend, meaning he misses out alongside Sam Johnstone, Rob Holding, Cheick Doucoure and Matheus Franca.

Jefferson Lerma is available, though, and will be pushing to start, either in Palace's back three or alongside the impressive Adam Wharton in midfield.

Long-term absentees Tyrone Mings, Emi Buendia, Boubacar Kamara and Jacob Ramsey are still out for Villa while Morgan Rogers, Matty Cash, Alex Moreno and Nicolo Zaniolo are doubts for this final day clash.

The stats

- Jean-Philippe Mateta has scored 10 goals in his 12 appearances under Glasner

- Aston Villa have conceded 12 times in their last five matches

- Crystal Palace have taken 16 points from the last 18 available

Publicidad

- The Villans are on a five-match winless run which includes three losses

- Both teams have scored in five of the last six meetings between this pair

- Mateta has netted six goals in his last five games and five in his last three appearances at Selhurst Park

- Four of Villa's last six games have gone over 3.5 goals, with the same landing in three of Palace's last five

Prediction

Unai Emery has guided Aston Villa to a Champions League finish

Palace have been exceptional since Glasner's arrival and only seem to be getting better as they have taken 16 points from their last 18 available, in a run which includes victories over Liverpool, Manchester United, West Ham and Newcastle.

A huge reason for their success has been the output the Austrian is getting out of their front three as Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze and Mateta have all enjoyed an excellent end to the season, with the latter fancied most to keep up his fine form on the final day.

The French forward had netted just three goals in the Premier League this term prior to Glasner's appointment, but has since gone on to score 10 times in his 12 matches under the Austrian.

He is showing no signs of slowing down either, having netted six in his last five games and five in his last three at home, seemingly thriving on the increasingly buoyant nature in the stands at Selhurst Park.

One of his few pre-Glasner goals – the Frenchman had a record of 10 in 77 league games for Palace prior to his current manager's arrival – for the Eagles came in this exact fixture last term.

That makes him a real option to net against Villa, who are playing for nothing and are on a five-match winless run which has seen them concede 12 times.
