Coventry and Sheffield Wednesday clash in the Championship on Saturday afternoon with these two sides level on eight points after as many games.

The Sky Blues are expected to challenge for promotion again this season after missing out on the play-offs last term, with a memorable cup run perhaps distracting from their league bid, but they are already playing catch-up after a slow start.

Coventry did claim a morale-boosting 3-0 win over Blackburn last time out, however, and now have a chance for back-to-back wins against a Wednesday outfit who have found results hard to come by on the road.

Team news

Danny Rohl has some injury concerns ahead of this trip to Coventry

Tatsuhiro Sakamoto suffered a thigh injury in the win over Blackburn and looks set to miss out against Wednesday.

Summer signing Raphael Borges Rodrigues and Jamie Allen are unavailable for the hosts.

Wednesday duo Liam Palmer and Olaf Kobacki were both forced off with muscle problems in the midweek draw with Bristol City and are rated as doubts for this trip, although boss Danny Rohl is hopeful the duo will be able to feature.

Dominic Iorfa, Ben Hamer and Nathaniel Chalobah will miss out again through injury.

The stats

These sides met four times last season, twice in the league and twice in the FA Cup, and Coventry won three of those games and drew the other.

Wednesday have picked up just one point from four away games in the Championship and have scored just one goal during that run, conceding nine.

Publicidad

Coventry’s Haji Wright has three goals in eight league games this season.

The Sky Blues have managed just two clean sheets in their last 12 competitive home games.

Prediction

Coventry have made a slow start to the season but their 3-0 midweek victory over previously unbeaten Blackburn could well prove to be the springboard they needed to kickstart their campaign.

The Sky Blues beat Wednesday three times last season in four meetings, with one draw, and the hosts look backable at 17/20 with LiveScore Bet to take all three points here.

But the best betting option looks to be an anytime effort for Coventry forward Haji Wright, who scored 16 goals in 44 league games last term and also struck three times in five FA Cup outings.

The USA international netted twice in a home win over Oxford United in August but then hit a dry patch, which came to an end with a goal in that 3-0 win over Rovers.

Wright has scored in both of Coventry’s wins this season and all three of his goals have come in home games.
