- Coventry have lost just one of their 16 home Championship games
- Preston have scored in seven consecutive fixtures
- Recommended bet:
Coventry to win & both teams to score

Preston looked destined for a mid-table finish in the Championship not too long ago but a run of 11 points from the last 15 available has put them right back in play-off contention.

North End sit just two points and two places behind seventh-placed Coventry, with the hosts just three points behind Hull City and the final play-off position.

The Sky Blues have an excellent home record and have lost just one of their home league games but Preston arrive in form and this could be a close affair.

Team news

Jamie Allen and Ben Sheaf remain sidelined for Coventry and Victor Torp could join them on the treatment table after sustaining a calf injury in the win over Stoke last time out. Liam Kelly could take his place in midfield.

Publicidad

Tatsuhiro Sakamoto missed out against the Potters due to illness but is back in contention, with Milan van Ewijk and Kasey Palmer also pushing for recalls.

Preston have no fresh injury or suspension concerns after their draw with Blackburn and boss Ryan Lowe could stick with the same side that fought back from 2-0 down to claim a point in that game.

The stats

Coventry have won seven of their last 10 home games in all competitions, drawing the other three.

Both teams have scored in 11 of Coventry’s last 12 games, while Preston have scored in seven successive fixtures.

Publicidad

North End have won just five of their 16 Championship away games, losing seven.

None of Preston’s away wins have come against teams currently higher than 14th in the table.

Ryan Lowe's Preston are back in the Championship play-off hunt

Prediction

Coventry have a poor record against visitors Preston as they are winless in the last 12 meetings, but they can end that run when the two sides meet in the Championship on Friday.

The Sky Blues have suffered just one defeat on home soil in the league all season. Earlier in the campaign, too many draws were an issue for Mark Robins’ men at the Coventry Building Society Arena, but recently they have managed to turn those stalemates into victories with seven wins in their last 10 games in front of their own fans.

Preston won the reverse fixture 3-2 and they arrive in fine form after picking up 11 points from the last 15 available.

Ryan Lowe’s side have perhaps rode their luck at times during that run, but they will see this as a key game as they look to move closer to the top six and they could leapfrog their hosts with a win.

As such, this is likely to be a hard-fought affair but home advantage should see Coventry over the line.

Cov have found clean sheets hard to come by and both teams have scored in 11 of their last 12 games overall — and in each of their last six at home.

This fixture should be of interest to both teams to score backers as both sides are in good form in front of goal.

And given Coventry’s excellent home record, it makes sense to go for a home win with goals at both ends in this key game in the battle for promotion to the Premier League.
