Coventry to win and over 2.5 goals

Coventry City look like one of the teams to beat in the Championship with just two months remaining and they will be confident of beating Cardiff on Monday afternoon.

The Sky Blues have moved to within four points of the top six, while they have also reached the last four of the FA Cup thanks to their heroic comeback against Wolves earlier this month, where they ran out 3-2 winners at Molineux.

Cardiff lost the South Wales derby 2-0 to Swansea before the international break and then followed that up by losing by the same scoreline to Sunderland on Good Friday.

Team news

Coventry boss Mark Robins is still without Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, but he remains the club's only long-term injury doubt, while Monday's game comes too soon for Jamie Allen who should return in April from a broken cheekbone.

Publicidad

Cardiff's Mark McGuinness will miss out due to a hamstring injury on Monday, while Jack Alnwick and Kion Etete both failed fitness tests and missed the defeat to Sunderland, so time is not on their side.

The stats

Coventry have been in free-flowing form of late, winning four in a row and scoring 13 in the process.

At home, they have kept successive clean sheets, and they have also only lost one of their previous 14 at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Cardiff had hoped to put together a late play-off charge, but back-to-back defeats have dented their hopes considerably.

Publicidad

The Bluebirds have not travelled well of late, losing three of their last four in the Championship.

Coventry will also be out for revenge, having lost the first meeting between the two sides 3-2 back in September.

Prediction

Robins' side are one of the form teams in the division at the minute as they have picked up 12 points from their last six matches in the Championship.

Their recent home form has helped them dream of yet another top-six finish and they should have too much quality for Cardiff, who may start to think that they have nothing to play for in 11th.

Coventry have found the back of the net with ease over recent weeks, so a high-scoring home win looks the value play for Monday's encounter.
