Chris Wood admitted Nottingham Forest made it hard for themselves as they beat Blackpool 3-2 in an FA Cup third-round replay.

Wood's close-range strike in extra-time sealed the win and sent Forest to the fourth round, where they will face Bristol City.

Speaking to ITV4 after the game, the striker claimed it was an "ugly win" against the League One side.

He said: "It's about getting to the next round, we had to do it ugly again.

"We made it hard for ourselves as we did at the City Ground."

Blackpool managed to hold Forest to a 2-2 draw in the original fixture and gave the Premier League side another battle at Bloomfield Road.

Andrew Omobamidele had a dream debut for the Tricky Trees as he opened the scoring early on before Danilo doubled the lead just after the break.

But the League One side battled back into the game through Albie Morgan and Kyle Joseph to send the encounter to extra-time.

Matters were settled when Chris Wood came up with the decisive strike in the 110th minute to send Nuno Espirito Santo's side through.

The powerful striker has been in great form since the appointment of Nuno, scoring five goals in as many games since the appointment.

Forest will have to travel to Championship side Bristol City, who knocked out West Ham on Tuesday.

And Wood — who played for the Robins on loan over ten years ago — admitted it will be a tough game.

He added: "They [Bristol City] are doing well in the Championship, it will be tough.

"It is always tough to go to Ashton Gate."
