Defender Calvin Ramsay has sealed his "dream" move after leaving Aberdeen to become Liverpool's third signing of the summer transfer window.

Reds chiefs have parted ways with a reported £6.5million to purchase the teenage right-back, who made 39 appearances in two seasons at Pittodrie.

The Dons academy graduate has played three times for Scotland Under-21s and won the Scottish FWA Young Player of the Year award last term.

On joining the Anfield club, Ramsay, 18, said: "I’m just buzzing and it’s a dream come true really to be here.

"It was a dream come true to play for Aberdeen, and now to be at one of the biggest, if not the biggest club in the world, it’s a massive achievement and I’m looking forward to trying to show the fans what I’ve got.

"Hopefully I can come in in pre-season, show everyone at the club, the staff, players what I’ve got and then we’ll see what happens from there."

Ramsay joins attacker Fabio Carvalho, 19, and Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez, 22, in making the switch to the FA Cup and Carabao Cup winners.

The Merseysiders' new No22 added: "There’s been a lot of young players that have played — the likes of Trent [Alexander-Arnold] and Harvey [Elliott] as well, there’s a lot more.

"There’s obviously a pathway here — that’s one of the reasons I chose it as well.

"It’s not just a massive club, they give young players chances in the first team.

"So if I can come in in pre-season, put my mark down, then there’s no reason why I can’t push to get in the first-team squad."

Jurgen Klopp's men are preparing for the sale of Sadio Mane, who is set to join Bayern Munich on a three-year deal.

The Senegalese's likely exit will follow the departure of fellow forward Divock Origi, who will leave the club at the end of his contract later this month.
