- These two teams have conceded 66 goals between them in the Premier League this season
- Both teams have scored in five of Sheffield United’s last six matches
- Recommended bet: Both teams to score

Things are already looking bleak for both Burnley and Sheffield United and if staying in the Premier League remains a realistic target then this is a must-win fixture.

Burnley were crowned champions of the Championship last season, amassing 101 points and finishing ten ahead of runners-up Sheffield United.

However, the rise in class to the Premier League is proving a bridge too far and they are rock-bottom with only five points to show from their first 13 games.

The Clarets are on a six-game losing streak and will be looking to stop the rot against their Yorkshire visitors, who have suffered defeat in ten of their opening 13 matches and are only one point better off.

So something must give at Turf Moor but these two defences have conceded a whopping 66 goals combined, which could contribute to an entertaining encounter.

Team news

Burnley’s Lyle Foster is taking some time off from football due to mental health struggles and there are doubts surrounding Jack Cork and Arijanet Muric.

Sheffield United have bigger concerns on the injury front and are without defenders Chris Basham, John Egan and Rhys Norrington-Davies.

Midfielder Tom Davies is also missing along with strikers Daniel Jebbison and Rhian Brewster.

The stats

Burnley have lost all seven of their home league games this season, conceding at least twice on six occasions, with their sole success coming away at fellow Premier League new boys Luton.

The Clarets have conceded in all 13 of their league matches this season, shipping a total of 32 goals.

However, Vincent Kompany’s side have scored in four of their last six home games, which includes against Aston Villa, Tottenham, Chelsea and West Ham.

Sheffield United are also yet to keep a clean sheet in 13 attempts this season, leaking 34 goals along the way.

The Blades have found their scoring boots in recent times, though, and have seen both teams score in five of their last six league games.

Paul Heckingbottom’s team have picked up only one point from their six away league outings.

Prediction

This is a relegation six-pointer and, while there is a belief that they tend to be cagey affairs, the goals could flow in this basement battle at Turf Moor.

Neither of these defences have been able to keep a clean sheet from their 13 games this season, with Burnley conceding 32 goals and Sheffield United shipping 34.

So the attacking players on the pitch should have plenty of confidence that they can make their presence felt and both teams to score may be the way to go.

That bet has landed in five of Burnley’s last seven league games while it has also occurred in five of the Blades’ last six, with it also prevailing on their away trips to Nottingham Forest, Tottenham, Fulham and Brighton.

Publicidad

One of their league meetings in the Championship last season ended 5-2 to Sheffield United at Bramall Lane and this could be another lively affair in Lancashire.
