- Bristol City have failed to score in only two of their last six matches
- Recommended bet: Bristol City to win

Bristol City take to the field for the first time since Nigel Pearson's sacking when they host rock-bottom Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Team news

Bristol City are in the midst of an injury crisis with as many as 12 members of the squad sidelined including the likes of Kal Naismith, Matty James, George Tanner, Zak Vyner, Andy King, Nahki Wells and Rob Atkinson.

Callum Paterson was back in action for the Owls against Rotherham and should feature again with no new injury news for Danny Rohl's side.

The stats

Danny Rohl got his first win as Sheffield Wednesday boss last time out

Sheffield Wednesday's 2-0 win over Rotherham last time out was the club's first win in 14 matches in the Championship this season.

The Owls have been particularly poor on their travels this season, losing six of their seven away games in the league.

Despite their dip in form, Bristol City are only five points off the play-off places in the Championship.

Goals have been hard to come by for the visitors, who have drawn blanks in six of their last seven assignments.

Prediction

In a move that has not gone down well with large parts of the fanbase, the Robins dismissed Pearson as their manager this week and will begin a new chapter at Ashton Gate against Sheffield Wednesday.

Publicidad

Assistant manager Curtis Fleming is set to take charge in the interim while the club look for a new permanent head coach and he can at least look forward to a soft first game on Saturday.

The Robins are up against Championship basement boys Wednesday, who beat fellow strugglers Rotherham on Sunday but that was their first win in 14 matches in the league this season.

The Owls have lost 10 league fixtures this term and have scored in only one of their last seven outings, so they should be opposed against a Bristol City side who have not been as bad as the statistics suggest.

In the midst of an injury crisis, Fleming's side have lost five of their last seven matches but it is worth noting three of those defeats were one-goal losses to Leicester, Leeds and Ipswich - the division's top three heading into the weekend.

The Robins are still only five points adrift of the top six and are better than the odds suggest so back them to start life after Pearson with a win over the struggling Owls.
