Barcelona to win 4-0

Barcelona need three points in Europe after going down 2-1 to Monaco on matchday one and Hansi Flick's side will expect to defeat Young Boys with the minimum of fuss.

The Swiss team, who also lost on Saturday domestically as their torrid league form continued, were well beaten by Aston Villa 3-0 at home in their Champions League opener.

That result suggests they could find themselves out of their depth in the continent's top competition this season.

Team news

Frenkie de Jong could be back in the fold for Barcelona

Barca currently have a busy treatment room with Fermin Lopez, Dani Olmo, Marc Bernal, Andreas Christensen, Ronald Araujo, Gavi and Marc-Andre ter Stegen all out injured and set to miss Tuesday's clash.

Frenkie de Jong, however, is finally making good progress from his ankle injury and could be included in the squad.

Eric Garcia is suspended for the hosts after he was sent off against Monaco on Matchday One.

Young Boys, meanwhile, are set to be without Saidy Janko, Patric Pfeiffer and Facinet Conte for the big clash at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

The stats

This is Young Boys' fourth involvement in the main Champions League competition, having been previously knocked out at the old group stage in the 2018-19, 2021-22 and 2023-24 seasons.

Young Boys beat Galatasaray 4-2 on aggregate in the play-off round this summer to seal a place in the revamped Champions League.

Publicidad

Young Boys are second bottom of the Swiss Super League, having picked up just one win so far from eight games.

Barcelona have won seven of their eight LaLiga games to sit top in Spain early on.

The two teams have never faced each other before in a competitive fixture.

Prediction

While both sides suffered defeats at the weekend, it would be an even bigger surprise if Young Boys, who are really struggling in the Swiss top flight, were to get anything from Tuesday's clash.

Barca have looked good so far this season under Flick as they aim to close the gap domestically on Real Madrid and the signs are they could compete in the latter stages of the revamped Champions League too.

They must get their matchday one defeat to Monaco quickly out of their system, though, and this is an agreeable fixture in which to get properly up and running in the competition.

Young Boys were comfortably beaten at home by Villa in their first fixture and this is an even bigger test against European heavyweights Barca, so they could be on the end of an even worse scoreline against the Catalans.
