- Inter have won all 13 of their games in 2024
- Atletico Madrid have won just one of their last five contests
- Recommended Bet: Inter Milan to win

Inter were excellent in the first leg of their last-16 clash with Atletico Madrid last month and they have shown no signs of slowing down since that 1-0 victory at San Siro.

The Milanese outfit have won four games on the spin following the first leg, taking down Atalanta and Bologna as part of that run.

As for Atleti, they have won just one of their subsequent three games in La Liga and were also dumped out of the Copa del Rey by Athletic Bilbao, leaving them in need of a confidence boost.

Team news

There is uncertainty surrounding the availability of Atleti duo Antoine Griezmann and Jose Gimenez, while Thomas Lemar, Cesar Azpilicueta and Vitolo are sidelined.

Inter will be without Marko Arnautovic, who scored in the first leg, as well as Carlos Augusto, Juan Cuadrado and Stefano Sensi.

The stats

Inter have strung together 13 straight wins in all competitions in 2024 and have not lost a match in normal time since a 2-1 defeat to Sassuolo in September last year.

The Italians have also kept clean sheets in four of their last six contests.

Atletico have won only two of their last nine fixtures, having lost five games as part of that run.

Prediction

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone may again be left frustrated on Wednesday

Inter were dominant in the first leg and it could be a similar story in the return match in Madrid.

Publicidad

Arnautovic scored the decisive goal in the 79th minute at San Siro, handing Inter a 1-0 advantage after they won the shot count 19-7 and denied their opponents an effort on target.

That result forms part of a sensational 13-game winning run in 2024 and Inter just look unstoppable right now.

They have established a 16-point advantage at the top of Serie A but last year's beaten Champions League finalists have also been able to impress on the continental stage and have one foot in the quarter-finals.

Inter are impressing but Atletico are underwhelming and the disparity between the sides should again be clear to see.

Los Rojiblancos have endured some tricky results in the last month or so, drawing 2-2 with Almeria and losing 2-0 to Cadiz in the league either side of a 3-0 humbling by Bilbao in the cup.

They are under serious pressure in the race to finish in the top four in La Liga and are unlikely to cause Inter too many problems.
