West Brom to win

Two sides hoping to stay in the promotion mix this season meet at Vicarage Road when Watford host West Brom on Sunday.

With just a point separating the teams in the table ahead of the Championship meeting, there may be little to choose between them.

However, the Baggies, who finally got a win on Wednesday when they beat Coventry – ending a run of four consecutive draws – can secure an important away success to boost their hopes of earning a place back in the Premier League.

Team news

Experienced defender Angelo Ogbonna has been ruled out for Watford after suffering a hamstring injury, but he is expected back later this month.

Tom Dele-Bashiru and Kevin Keben remain on the long-term absentee list for Tom Cleverley's side.

Baggies forward Grady Diangana is a major doubt and seems likely to miss a sixth consecutive Championship game.

Kyle Bartley was among the subs for the midweek win over Coventry but could return to the starting line-up, meaning Mason Holgate may have to settle for a place on the bench this time for the visitors.

The stats

Before this weekend's games in the Championship, only leaders Sheffield United and third-placed Burnley had picked up more points away from home this season than West Brom's tally of 17.

Only Middlesbrough, with 19, have scored more goals on their travels than Albion, who have managed 15, this season.

Watford have been impressive at home this term, winning seven of their nine league assignments.

Three of the last four meetings between the sides have been draws, including both of last season's games, which ended 2-2.

Josh Maja is second on the Championship top scorers list with 10 goals.

Prediction

This should be a closely-fought affair in Hertfordshire, but the visitors are fancied to edge it.

Albion have been frustrated by far too many draws this term, incredibly being held in 11 of their 20 league games, but they got a much-needed three points when seeing off Midlands rivals Coventry in midweek and they can build on that by beating the Hornets.

Watford, who have just a point less than Sunday's opponents, have had some annoying draws of their own of late, managing only a point against both QPR and Hull City and they could be in for further disappointment this weekend.

It could well be decided by one goal and the Baggies can prevail to become the first side to win at Vicarage Road this season.
