Ange Postecoglou's Spurs welcome Brighton on Saturday

- Tottenham are fifth, two points off fourth
- Brighton are down in eighth place
- Recommended bet: Tottenham to win and both teams to score

Tottenham host Brighton on Saturday in what could be a very entertaining Premier League clash.

Spurs are fifth, seven points behind leaders Liverpool going into the weekend's games, and will fancy their chances of securing a victory over Brighton, who are nine points behind Ange Postecoglou's men in eighth place.

There have been at least four goals in three of these two sides' last four games overall and with attacking intent at the forefront of both Postecoglou and his counterpart Roberto De Zerbi's minds, goals could well be on the agenda again in North London.

Team news

Heung-Min Son is due to return to the club after being knocked out of the Asian Cup with South Korea, but it is unclear if he will come straight back into club contention this weekend.

Manor Solomon and Ryan Sessegnon remain out injured for the hosts, but Giovani Lo Celso could return.

For Brighton, Kaoru Mitoma could be back in contention after Japan exited the Asian Cup but the Seagulls remain without Joel Veltmann, Julio Enciso, James Milner and Solly March for the trip.

The stats

Brighton won the earlier meeting this season 4-2 at The Amex, when they were 4-0 up after 75 minutes.

However, Spurs have never lost consecutive games against Brighton.

Tottenham forward Richarlison has scored nine goals in his last eight Premier League games.

Brighton star Joao Pedro has hit an impressive 19 goals in all competitions so far this season.

Prediction

Spurs can maybe sense an opening above them in the table and their most optimistic fans may still be dreaming of a title bid.

That seems fanciful as mid-February approaches but a charge for the top four remains a key aim.

A win over the Seagulls looks essential if that target is to be achieved, and Postecoglou's men are fancied to come out on top in what should be a well-contested game.

Both teams have scored in three of Brighton's last five matches in all competitions, while both have netted in three of Spurs' last four, so this clash could follow that familiar pattern.

Tottenham have won their last four in the league at home and they should make it five in a row, although Brighton, who have hit 13 goals in their last five matches, will expect to play their part.
