Sheffield United to win

Both Sheffield United and Luton have had to adjust to life back in the Championship following relegation and the Blades will be a lot happier with their return to the second tier.

The Blades are eying an immediate return after remaining unbeaten in their opening eight matches, while the Hatters have found life more problematic and have gained just two league victories so far.

Team news

United midfielder Ollie Arblaster has been ruled out until after the international break with an ankle injury, but otherwise the Blades should be at full strength.

Striker Carlton Morris, defender Mads Andersen and midfielder Tahith Chong all missed Luton’s midweek clash with Oxford and are struggling.

The game looks to have come too early for Daiki Hashioka and Shandon Baptiste.

United have not conceded a goal in their last five Championship matches, winning four of those and drawing the other.

Chris Wilder’s side have won their three Championship home games 1-0.

Both teams have scored in all but one of Luton’s last five league matches.

Four of the Hatters’ last five Championship games have featured at least three goals.

Prediction

United had a disastrous season in the Premier League last season but they appear to have put their issues behind them and can gain another victory at the expense of Luton, who also fell into the second tier last term.

Wilder has steadied the ship and the Blades have shown their defence qualities in recent games by not conceding in their last five outings.

Their habit of gaining 1-0 home victories — they have managed that in their last three Bramall Lane showings against Watford, Derby and Swansea — looks an excellent trend for a team eying an immediate return to the big time and they could have too much for Luton, who have found the return to the Championship a little more difficult to negotiate.

The Hatters were shell-shocked by a 4-1 opening weekend home defeat to Burnley and while they have posted victories over Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday, both goals in their 2-1 success over the Owls came from Carlton Morris, who has been struggling with injury.

Rob Edwards’ side found Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth too hot to handle in their last Championship away game and were unable to see their way past promoted Oxford on their own patch in midweek.

There looks a strong chance that they will not have enough to stop the Blades from building on their excellent start.
