It is neck and neck at Serie A’s summit as unbeaten Napoli and AC Milan tussle for pole position in Italy’s title race.

The Rossoneri face Torino tonight before Luciano Spalletti’s leaders finish off the midweek round of action by hosting Bologna on Thursday.

Elsewhere, Lazio and Fiorentina will be looking to move into the European places when they meet in Rome, while Spezia and Genoa battle it out at the bottom.

Game of the week: AC Milan vs Torino (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Milan were not at their best against Bologna on Saturday, but two red cards for the men from Emilia-Romagna helped last season’s runners-up continue their hot streak of five straight league wins.

Another victory against Torino would equal the club’s best run under boss Stefano Pioli after he managed six victories on the bounce from July to October 2020.

The San Siro side are a force to be reckoned with on home turf, winning each of the last four league matches at their iconic stadium.

Veteran frontman Olivier Giroud has scored in two of those games — he will become the first player since Mario Balotelli in 2013 to register in his first three home matches for the Rossoneri if he strikes again.

Here are the other big games to watch this week…

Napoli vs Bologna (Thursday, 7.45pm)

Napoli’s perfect start to the season came to an end against Roma on Sunday but they are still unbeaten and top of the table going into matchday 10.

A rock-solid defence has been the bedrock of their success, having conceded a paltry three goals across nine matches.

But it is one of the Partenopei’s attacking stars who could be the difference-maker if he features on Thursday — Dries Mertens has scored a remarkable 11 goals in 13 league matches against Bologna and will be keen to add to that tally.

The Neapolitans will need to watch out for their opponents’ set-piece prowess though — no team has scored more goals from corners this season (seven) than Sinisa Mihajlovic’s men.

Lazio vs Fiorentina (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Lazio and Fiorentina are within touching distance of Italy’s top four but will need their form to improve after two defeats in three for both sides.

The Roman hosts have aspirations of securing Champions League football and Maurizio Sarri will be hoping to mark his 200th match as a manager in style.

Biancocelesti midfielder Luis Alberto is also celebrating a milestone — his 150th Serie A appearance — and he could be key to his side’s chances of victory.

The former Liverpool man has directly contributed to seven league goals against the Viola (three goals, four assists) since his arrival in the capital.

Spezia vs Genoa (Tuesday, 5.30pm)

Strugglers Spezia and Genoa sit either side of the drop zone and are separated by just one point, so there will be plenty on the line when they meet at the Stadio Alberto Picco.

The visitors are on a wretched run of six games without victory, but the omens are good for the Grifone — they have only lost one of their nine meetings with Spezia across all competitions.

Their hopes will rest on the form of striker Mattia Destro, who has scored in his last four Serie A appearances.

If he can find the net against the league’s worst defence, it will be the first time that he has scored in five consecutive top-flight matches.
