Saul Alvarez retained his undisputed super-middleweight crown by outclassing Jermell Charlo. 

The Mexican, known as Canelo, claimed a unanimous points vitory to keep hold of his WBO, WBC, WBA and IBF titles in Las Vegas. 

Much to the delight of his fans, the champ floored Charlo in the seventh round before the judges called the bout 119-108, 118-109 and 118-109 in his favour for the 60th win of his 64-fight pro career. 

Canelo, 33, said: "I'm the best. Who's better? Nobody can beat this Canelo.

"I worked all the fight to go in the body. Then I changed the punch and that's what happened. We worked for that. 

"We know he's a great fighter. He knows how to move in the ring and we worked that in the gym for three months. 

"Three months in the mountains without my family, without everything. 

"But I still love boxing. Boxing made me the person I am today. Boxing is my life." 

Charlo, 33, was the undisputed super-welterweight champ until he was stripped of his WBO belt when the bout with Canelo started. 

It was just the second defeat of a 38-fight career, coming after he stepped up two divisions to face one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters on the planet. 

The American said: "I just feel like I wasn't me in there.

"It's boxing. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. 

"I'm proud of myself. He didn't knock me out. He hit me with some hard shots."
