Rotherham vs Huddersfield predictions: Town to put Millers on the brink
- Rotherham are on a nine-game losing streak
- Huddersfield are a point from safety after back-to-back losses
- Recommended bet: Huddersfield to win
Huddersfield make the short trip to Rotherham desperately needing to beat the Championship’s bottom club to improve their survival prospects.
Rock-bottom Rotherham have all but thrown in the towel after a pair of 5-0 drubbings at Coventry and Norwich, but Huddersfield still have everything to play for.
It looks like two from 12 teams for the other two relegation spots, one of which Huddersfield currently occupy following losses to Cardiff and West Brom.
The Millers, who have won only three games all season, are 14/5 with LiveScore Bet to produce a rare victory, with Town available at 10/11.
Team news
Lee Peltier, Cohen Bramall and Grant Hall are still out but Millers’ chief Leam Richardson could call upon left-sided centre-back Tyler Blackett for the first time. Blackett has been out since October, before Richardson took the reins.
January signing Radinio Balker is fit and set to line up in Huddersfield’s back three for the first time in a month.
Another winter newcomer, striker Bojan Radulovic, is also fit and challenging, though Rhys Healey will not be seen until after the international break.
The stats
Rotherham have lost nine in a row, culminating in back-to-back 5-0 thrashings at Coventry and Norwich. They have conceded 77 goals in total, by a distance the worst record in the division.
The Millers have failed to score in eight of their last 12. In the other four, they scored the first goal but failed to win any of them.
Huddersfield have drawn 14 matches this season, the most in the Championship, with 11 of those shares — and each of the last eight — ending 1-1.
Prediction
The season cannot end quickly enough for Rotherham, who know their fate and could be relegated by Easter.
For Huddersfield, in contrast, the pressure is very much on as they try to prevail in a multi-team scrap to avoid the other two relegation places.
They have definitely improved under Andre Breitenreiter, their only losses since the turn of the year coming against top-half opponents.
Indeed, for a half against West Brom on Sunday they were excellent, went 1-0 up but ultimately were picked off by a good Baggies’ side, who won 4-1.
Rotherham are nowhere near West Brom’s class and, with the host’s confidence through the floor, Huddersfield should fancy their chances of landing the odds.
