Luton boss Rob Edwards understood Burnley's frustrations after Carlton Morris' late header was allowed to stand in Luton's 1-1 draw at Turf Moor.

Substitute Morris equalised in the second minute of added time in a crucial clash between the relegation rivals, despite Elijah Adebayo seemingly impeding Clarets keeper James Trafford.

It denied Vincent Kompany's men just their second Premier League home win this term and leaves them rooted to the bottom of the table.

On the leveller, Edwards told TNT Sport: "I think if I'm being honest if it's against me, I'd be very disappointed like they are.

"But if it had been disallowed it would have been quite soft.

"It's a difficult one. I'm pleased they made that decision clearly because it got us a point but I understand their frustrations.

"That's the fault if there is one [with VAR], that it comes down to opinions. I'm pleased it's gone for us.

"I think Eli gets shoved into James Trafford, it is a goal — it is one of those.

"That is a big moment in the game and we deserved that. I do feel for Vinny [Kompany] and if it is a foul I will be honest."

Burnley were set to go within two points of safety before Zeki Andouni's first-half effort was cancelled out late on.

Clarets defender Dara O'Shea said: "I can't get my head around the decision. None of us quite understand it and we don't get any information on the pitch.

"We're bitterly disappointed with the result. We defended very well.

"I keep going back to that decision and I just can't understand it."

Luton, meanwhile, have gone level on points with 17th-placed Everton, with survival in their maiden Premier League campaign still very much alive.

Reflecting on the game, the Hatters boss added: "It was difficult because they were getting a lot of bodies back and it was hard to break that down.

"We changed shape a few times to try and find a way and in the end it was probably a little bit of a hopeful ball [from Alfie Doughty]."
