Among Thursday's racing highlights is an eight-race meeting at Ayr — sponsored by Virgin Bet.

In a fantastic finale to their Flat season, they race in Scotland from 1pm until 4.55pm with conditions forecast to be 'Soft-good to soft in places'.

And we have selected five five horses for you to follow. 

1pm - Virgin Bet Novice Stakes (6f)

The Keith Dalgleish-trained BELTRANE already possesses the best form in the book and his front-running style means he is a straightforward operator. 

Though beaten odds-on favourite at Musselburgh last time, there were some excuses for that given his demeanour pre-race and, with this being a drop in class, Callum Rodriguez's mount is the one to beat. 

Monsieur Jumbo presents as the main danger, though he has not yet demonstrated a fondness for a fight.

2.05pm - virginbet.com Handicap Division 1 (1m)

Temper Trap was second at Hamilton last time but has tended to reserve his best for that venue and, tellingly, had underperformed in two visits here. 

Caballero was also second best at Hamilton last time and will aim to snap a losing run dating back to 2018 but ENGLES ROCK could be the answer. 

The mare has a poor strike-rate but she went close here over 1m2f in the summer and her latest Musselburgh run was also promising. She has on a workable mark.

2.40pm - virginbet.com Handicap Division 2 (1m)

Lucinda Russell could well harbour hopes of landing both divisions of this virginbet.com Handicap as the returning AONE ALLY is no forlorn hope here. 

The Mayson gelding was only making his fourth start when he finished a decent fifth on handicap bow at Hamilton (1m1f, good to soft) back in late May. 

He travelled quite nicely through the race but did not seem to relish the final furlong. 

Returning to a more gettable mile here after his break, there could be an improved performance in him.

3.50pm - Download The Virgin Bet App Handicap (7f)

She remains a maiden after 17 attempts but LISTEN AGAIN has made the frame in 5-16 previously on turf, including at Musselburgh (7f, good to soft; 2nd) and Catterick (7f, good; 3rd) in her most recent starts. 

Those signs indicate that from this much-reduced mark she should be able to find a race to win in this grade before long. 

Tim Easterby's Make Believe filly is well drawn in stall two and has her chance again in what looks a very open contest on paper.

4.55pm - Virgin Bet Raceday Handicap (1m5f)

A useful hurdler (rated 142 at best) ONE NIGHT IN MILAN had a wind operation prior to starting out on the Flat with three runs during July, all on quick ground. 

He did not achieve a lot but duly improved markedly on his handicap bow in this sphere at Catterick (1m, good to soft) eight days ago when finishing a head second best. 

This drop in trip should not present any worries and he has also got Billy Garrity claiming 3lb now. Conditions are fine and he may go one place better in this Ayr finale.
