The new season is only four games old, yet some Premier League managers are already feeling the pressure.

A poor start tends not to be looked upon leniently by club owners in the top flight, even with so many matches remaining.

We have taken a look at some of the head coaches that will be feeling twitchy over the international break and are in need of an upturn in form when the Premier League resumes.

Sean Dyche (Everton)

After narrowly avoiding relegation in 2022-23, Sean Dyche's Everton have yet to win a league game, drawing 2-2 at Sheffield United last Saturday.

It was a performance that demonstrated how they still lack the defensive resilience that was the trademark of his Burnley side.

Dyche has been blighted by injuries to attackers, with the Toffees having lost their first three games without scoring, before ending that run against the Blades.

New signings like Beto and Arnaut Danjuma are now in the team and with creative players returning, the pressure will be on to deliver points.

Paul Heckingbottom (Sheffield United)

The 2-2 draw was not just Everton's first point of the season, but also Sheffield United's.

Paul Heckingbottom's team lost their first three games in the Premier League following promotion, all by a one-goal margin.

Although the Blades have been unlucky not to have more points on the board, an early Carabao Cup exit at home to Lincoln was avoidable.

Heckingbottom will be more aware than most that Bramall Lane chiefs can be ruthless, having become interim manager in March 2021 after Chris Wilder's exit.

Rob Edwards (Luton)

Another promoted manager finding life tough at the top is Luton's Rob Edwards.

The Hatters have lost all three of their top-flight games, albeit against relatively tough opposition.

After the international break there will face some winnable fixtures, from which Luton will need to show some signs that they can be competitive.

Any pressure on Edwards may seem harsh considering that he won promotion against the odds but it is a reality that he knows well, having been brutally sacked by Watford last season.

Marco Silva (Fulham)

Another manager that is no stranger to the sack is Marco Silva, though he might have thought that threat was distant at Fulham, after last season's 10th-placed finish.

The new campaign has been a mixed bag, with heavy defeats to Brentford and Manchester City, coming alongside good results against Everton, Arsenal and Tottenham, in the Carabao Cup.

It is not so much poor form that sees Silva among the favourites to be sacked but concern over who will score the goals after Aleksandar Mitrovic's departure.

If the Cottagers can show they can cope without the Serbian in September fixtures against Luton and Crystal Palace, the Portuguese manager may feel more secure.

Erik ten Hag (Manchester United)

The managers listed above could be fighting relegation this season but there is also pressure on coaches such as Erik ten Hag, for which more is expected.

Manchester United have had a poor start, with their victories looking unconvincing and defeats coming at Tottenham and Arsenal.

Despite winning the Carabao Cup last season, Ten Hag's team suffered some heavy losses, such as the 7-0 thrashing at Liverpool.

The pressure on the Dutchman could be amplified if results do not go as planned in the games against Brighton and Bayern Munich, when club football returns.
