There are seven Premier League matches taking place on Saturday, starting with Newcastle's trip to Tottenham and concluding with Arsenal's visit to Brighton.

Tottenham vs Newcastle (12.30pm)

Newcastle have got themselves on a roll and while wins over Leicester, Ipswich and Aston Villa shot them up the Premier League table, it was Monday’s 2-0 success at Manchester United that has made plenty of people sit up and take notice.

While the Magpies have been flying, Tottenham have been feeling a little sorry for themselves of late as a series of defensive injuries have taken their toll on Ange Postecoglou’s side and a defeat could be heading Spurs' way.

Bournemouth vs Everton (3pm)

A fourth game in 13 days will test the shape and stamina of both Bournemouth and Everton and could lead to a potentially tame start to 2025 at the Vitality Stadium.

Everton have now drawn eight of their last 14 games and perhaps lack the in-form firepower to win many games, but they certainly boast the shape and organisation to be trusted to avoid losing against the Cherries.

Aston Villa vs Leicester (3pm)

Leicester have dropped to 19th on the back of four straight losses, hardly a criminal sequence of flops given that three of their conquerors were Newcastle, Liverpool and Manchester City, but they now face a tough trip to Aston Villa.

The Foxes look light at the back, keeping just one clean sheet this season and none on the road, and they could get punished by a Villa side that have impressed in the final third.

Leicester do, however, have a decent knack of finding the net so the clever play may well be Villa to win with both teams scoring.

Crystal Palace vs Chelsea (3pm)

Chelsea’s recent downturn in fortunes has mainly been due to an inability to break teams down, as they have scored just one goal in their last three games, and they struggle against a solid Crystal Palace side.

The Eagles have lost just two of their last 11 games, those defeats coming against Arsenal and an in-form Fulham, so teams have had to be at their best to get the better of Palace recently.

Manchester City vs West Ham (3pm)

Pep Guardiola is unbeaten against the Irons as a manager and Manchester City are expected to romp to victory against West Ham.

A win to zero looks to be the best option here, as that was the outcome in the Citizens' last Etihad victory – a 3-0 triumph against Nottingham Forest – and the champions can begin 2025 with a bang.

Southampton vs Brentford (3pm)

The table suggests Brentford should have no problems beating Southampton on their travels this weekend, but the Bees have been hopeless on the road.

Frank's side have been inconsistent and they have conceded 16 goals on the road in nine games.

Saturday's game features the worst team at home in the Premier League versus the joint-worst away team and that does not bode well for those who want to watch an entertaining battle.

Brighton vs Arsenal (5.30pm)

Arsenal have been in impressive scoring form, netting nine times across their last three league games and they will feel confident of adding to that tally against a suspect Brighton defence.

Fabian Hurzeler's troops have conceded 28 times in the top-flight – only Aston Villa have let in more of the teams in the top 11 of the standings – and the Seagulls will find it difficult to keep a free-flowing Arsenal at bay.

However, Brighton should be able to get themselves on the scoresheet, something they have achieved in seven of their nine home fixtures in the league.
