Arsenal have secured the signing of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City for a reported initial fee of £30million.

The 25-year-old has penned a long-term deal and becomes the second player to swap the Etihad for the Emirates this summer after Gabriel Jesus also moved to North London.

Zinchenko won nine major honours at City, primarily playing at left-back — although he often features as a central midfielder at international level for Ukraine.

He previously worked under Gunners boss Mikel Arteta during the Spaniard's three-year spell as assistant coach to Pep Guardiola at the Citizens.

And Arteta gushed over the Gunners' latest arrival.

He said: "Oleks is a high quality player who will give us options and versatility.

"He's a player that I personally know really well and continued to follow him after my time at Manchester City.

"It's not only about the positions he can play but as well, the versatility he will give us in attack and defence.

"Oleks is a person with great human qualities and character, and I'm delighted that everyone has made this huge effort to bring Oleks to the club."

Arsenal have now made five additions in this transfer window, with Matt Turner, Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira preceding the arrivals of Jesus and Zinchenko.

Guardiola is said to have lined up Brighton defender Marc Cucurella as Zinchenko's replacement as the Premier League champions continue their summer rebuild.
