Millwall vs Blackburn predictions: Resilient Rovers to rack up another win
- Blackburn have won their last six matches
- Millwall have lost their last three fixtures
- Recommended bet: Blackburn draw no bet
Blackburn have moved from tenth place to fifth with a six-game winning runand will be aiming for another maximum when they take on Millwall in the capital.
Not many people expected Rovers to be prominent in the promotion race, but steady progress has been made by John Eustace’s side, who are capable of winning games in different ways.
They have been gritty on their travels, with clean sheets underpinning recent 1-0 wins at Middlesbrough, Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday.
Defensive resilience may well be needed against the Lions, who have posted five of their six Championship wins this season on home turf.
However, Millwall are winless in six games and parted company with their former manager, Neil Harris, after last Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Middlesbrough.
Team news
Jake Cooper (knee), Josh Coburn (foot) and Callum Scanlon (back) and Daniel Kelly (ankle) are sidelined, but Shaun Hutchinson (hamstring) has returned to training and could come back into the squad.
Harry Pickering returned from injury by starting Saturday's 2-0 victory at home to Luton, but a busy Blackburn treatment room includes Zak Gilsenan (muscle injury), Arnor Sigurdsson (thigh), Balazs Toth (leg) and Scott Wharton (knee).
Andreas Weimann (knee) was an unused substitute at the weekend and is pushing to be involved.
The stats
Millwall have lost their last three matches by a 1-0 scoreline, while all of their last 13 fixtures have featured less than three goals.
The Lions' last four victories have also been by a 1-0 scoreline.
Blackburn have registered victories and clean sheets in each of their last five fixtures, while 10 of Rovers' last 11 games have featured less than three goals.
Prediction
Millwall kicked off December with a trio of single-goal defeats and their miserable month may continue with a loss to in-form Blackburn at the Den.
The Lions are searching for a permanent replacement for Harris, who completed his second spell in the Lions dugout with a narrow reverse at Middlesbrough last weekend.
David Livermore is Harris’ short-term replacement and inherits an injury-hit squad which may be lacking confidence and unsure of what the future holds.
Rewind to early November and Millwall enjoyed 1-0 successes at home to Burnley and Leeds United.
However, their performances have dipped and it is hard to see why they should be the favourites against the most in-form team in the division.
Blackburn are not the most free-flowing Championship side, but they have a knack of winning tight games and look decent value to claim another three points.
