Milan Skriniar has joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.

The highly-rated Slovakian centre-back, 28, ended his six-year spell at Inter Milan when his contract expired last month.

He now becomes Luis Enrique's first signing since being unveiled as the successor to Christophe Galtier yesterday.

On signing a five-year deal, Skriniar said: "I am very happy to be part of this wonderful club.

"PSG is one of the best clubs in the world, with world-class players and fantastic fans."

Skriniar made 246 appearances for Inter having joined from Sampdoria in 2017.

He won the Serie A title with the Nerazzurri in 2020-21 while lifting the Copa del Rey twice.

The 60-cap international started for Simone Inzaghi's men in last season's Champions League final, ending up on the losing side to Manchester City.

Luis Enrique is seeking to rebuild his squad following the exits of Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos earlier this summer.

Skriniar is a marquee recruit for the Spaniard with a number of additional new faces expected to arrive at the Parc des Princes in the coming days.

The future of star forward Kylian Mbappe remains unclear, however, with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi telling reporters on Wednesday: "My position is very clear.

"I don't want to repeat it every time — if Kylian wants to stay, we want him to stay.

"But he needs to sign a new contract. We don't want to lose the best player in the world for free — we can't do that.

"He said he would never leave for free. If he changes his mind today, it's not my fault. We don't want to lose the best player in the world for free, that's very clear."
