Swansea have appointed Notts County boss Luke Williams as their new head coach.

Williams has signed a three-and-a-half year contract at the Championship club after deciding to leaving League Two outfit County.

Swansea chairman Andy Coleman told the club website: "As I have said previously, we have undertaken a diligent and detailed process to find our next head coach.

"I have been fortunate to spend a lot of time with Luke recently.

"I have looked him in the eye and know that we can trust Luke to be a coach and leader who is aligned with our vision for Swansea City.

"He fits right into the mould of other talented and ambitious young managers who have succeeded here.

"I am confident our supporters will be excited by and proud of this Luke Williams-led Swansea City team."

Williams' appointment ends Swansea's month-long search to find a successor to Michael Duff.

The former Cheltenham and Barnsley boss was sacked on December 4 after less than five months in charge.

Alan Sheehan took the caretaker reins — claiming 11 points from seven games — and the Irishman will return to his role as assistant head coach.

Assistant Ryan Harley and first-team coach analyst George Lawtey have also made the move from Meadow Lane as part of Williams’ coaching team.

The 43-year-old, who guided his old club back into the Football League last season, will take charge for the first time in Saturday’s FA Cup third-round tie at home to Morecambe.

Williams previously worked at Swansea, who are currently 16th in the second tier, in the 2021-22 season as part of Russell Martin’s coaching staff.
