Patrick Vieira refused to comment after seemingly kicking out at an Everton fan during a pitch invasion at Goodison Park. 

Vieira watched in horror as his Crystal Palace side blew a two-goal lead as the Toffees battled back to win 3-2 and secure their Premier League status. 

With jubilant fans invading the pitch at full-time, the Frenchman was caught up in an ugly confrontation with a supporter who appeared to goad him while filming on his mobile phone. 

Asked about the incident after the game, Vieira, 45, said: "I've got nothing to say about that."

The clash came hot on the heels of one involving Sheffield United skipper Billy Sharp, who was knocked to the ground by a headbutt from a Nottingham Forest fan. 

Forest season ticket holder Robert Biggs, 30, was jailed for 24 weeks and given a 10-year football banning order yesterday for assaulting Sharp.

Eddie Howe and Jurgen Klopp have urged fans to behave at all times — including during pitch invasions. 

With supporters flooding on to pitches at the end of pivotal games claiming headlines this week, Newcastle boss Howe was quick to highlight that coaching and playing staff should never feel unsafe on the field. 

Speaking ahead of his side's trip to Burnley on Sunday, he said: "I don't mind the celebrational aspect — embracing the success a team has had is part of football, I've got no issue with that. 

"It's the aggression towards the opposition, it's swarms of people around one or two people. 

"That doesn't sit well with me at all, that's something [on which] we have to act very quickly because we want to avert potential tragedy."

Liverpool manager Klopp, preparing his side for a must-win game against Wolves, added: "It could have been dangerous [at Goodison]. I'm not sure how you avoid that. 

"I don't want to judge. I understand emotions but for the other team it's massively uncomfortable. 

"I really hope we learn from that. We should make sure absolutely nothing happens. People threaten themselves by jumping over [the hoardings]. 

"We can celebrate things without threatening ourselves and the opposition."

Flying Foxes

Brendan Rodgers believes Leicester have had a good season — regardless of what the critics may say. 

Last night's 1-1 draw at Chelsea left the Foxes ninth in the table heading into their final game of the campaign at home to Southampton on Sunday. 

And Rodgers, 49, is content with his squad's efforts having also guided his side to the Europa Conference League semi-finals, where they lost 2-1 on aggregate to Jose Mourinho's Roma. 

The Leicester boss said: "The highest we can finish is eighth. If we do that, considering the perception around that Leicester have had a really bad season, it would show how well the players have done. 

"For Leicester to be in the [Premier League] top 10 and reach a European semi-final... I have said all along it is perspective. 

"We will always fight to compete, that is what we look to do next season."

Stevie will G up Villa

Steven Gerrard has vowed Aston Villa will make life as difficult as possible for Manchester City on Sunday. 

The Villans head to the Etihad knowing they can help Liverpool rip the Premier League title from City's grasp by upsetting Pep Guardiola's men. 

And Gerrard, 41, would love to do his old club a huge favour. Speaking after last night's 1-1 draw with Burnley, he said: "We have little time to prepare for the City game.

"But we'll try to make it as difficult as we can for them and will fight for everything we can. 

"We will try to give it our best shot and make our supporters proud on the last day of the season."

Final push

Burnley's fate remains in their hands following a 1-1 draw at Aston Villa — and stand-in boss Mike Jackson is determined to see them to safety. 

The Clarets host Newcastle on Sunday knowing they are outside of the bottom three courtesy of goal difference alone. 

But they can ensure top-flight safety by bettering or matching the result Leeds pick up in their final game at Brentford. 

Reflecting on the draw at Villa Park, Jackson, 48, said: "The least we wanted was a point, we're a little disappointed not to get the three.

"Everything I've seen is what this group does. They've had to dig in, they've had to work. 

"We'll need it again on Sunday."

Goodbye from Rudi

Antonio Rudiger has vowed to give it everything in his last game for Chelsea on Sunday. 

The popular German centre-back, 29, is expected to be in the starting line-up when relegated Watford visit Stamford Bridge on the final day of the Premier League season. 

And he wants to go out with a bang ahead of joining Real Madrid a free agent this summer. 

Rudiger said: "I don’t like goodbyes. But I will try to make this one special, from the heart.

"I had to make a decision. I will leave it at that, because business aside, I have nothing bad to say about this club.

"Chelsea will always be in my heart."

Happy Hammer

Mark Noble admits last Sunday's farewell at the London Stadium is still sinking in. 

The West Ham skipper, 35, will hang up his boots at the end of the season after a career spent entirely with the East Londoners — apart from brief loan spells as a teen at Hull and Ipswich. 

And as the Hammers prepare for their final game of the Premier League campaign at Brighton on Sunday, the midfielder will never forget that emotional day, which just happened to also bear witness to a thrilling 2-2 draw with Manchester City. 

Speaking to BBC Sport, he said: "I couldn't believe there was not a spare seat in the stadium. I was truly honoured. 

"I have been involved in football for a long time. I don't think I have seen a send-off like that before.

"I came through as a West Ham fan and lived the dream of every football fan to play for and captain the team you grew up supporting."

Top secret

Wolves boss Dan McNamara will not be at his side's FA Women's National League play-off showdown against Southampton tomorrow — because he is in a top secret location with the RAF. 

McNamara, or Corporal McNamara as he is also known, is on a four-month overseas mission as part of his role as an aircraft technician.

And that means he will not be in the dugout at Edgeley Park. 

McNamara said: "The players are ready, the staff are ready. They’ve proved already that they don’t need me — the culture runs itself, the environment we have. 

"The girls are ready. As much as it hurts me, it’s not about me any more. I’m not Wolves Women. It’s those 23 girls."
