Lautaro praises Inter maturity under Inzaghi following Salernitana thrashing
Lautaro Martinez has claimed Inter Milan have gained maturity under Simone Inzaghi after thrashing Salernitana 4-0.
Martinez struck in the first half alongside Marcus Thuram and Denzel Dumfries while Marko Arnautovic added a fourth late on.
The win put Inzaghi's side on 63 points, 10 clear of second-placed Juventus with 14 Serie A games to play.
Argentine forward Martinez said: "We approach every game the same way, sometimes it works from the start and sometimes it gets tougher.
"But we always try to press high, recover the ball quickly and score lots of goals.
"Now we have an important objective ahead of us, we must remain humble, working every day and playing the way we did tonight.
"We always have our destiny in our hands.
"During the experience with this coach, we worked so hard on gaining maturity.
"Now we step on to the field aware of our own strength, eager to show it in every game."
Martinez's early goal was a superb long-range shot, extending his lead over Dusan Vlahovic in the Serie A Golden Boot race to eight.
The strike also meant he became the first Inter player this century to score 20 goals in the Italian top flight in three consecutive seasons.
It also put the 26-year-old marksman eighth in Inter's all-time top scorer list with 125 goals, surpassing Mauro Icardi.
Inter's next challenge comes at home to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.
Inzaghi's side come into the clash with plenty of momentum having now won eight matches in a row.
