Joe Joyce is on the comeback trail after last year's brace of defeats to Zhilei Zhang and the Putney puncher will meet experienced performer Derek Chisora at London's O2 Arena on Saturday night.

Chisora is a 48-fight veteran, who has enjoyed a 20-year career in the sport, but this could well be the 40-year-old's final venture into the ring.

War was last seen getting the better of Gerald Washington in a low-key bout 11 months ago, while Joyce stopped Kash Ali in the final few seconds of their 10-round contest in March.

Two careers are on the line on Saturday night and Joyce is 1/5 to keep moving in the right direction.

Chisora is 17/5 to pull off a shock victory and the draw is available at 18/1.

The Stats

Chisora has lost four of his last six bouts, while 17 of Joyce's 18 professional contests have ended before the final bell.

Fourteen of Joyce's 18 fights have ended in rounds 1-6, and nine of Chisora's last 12 victories have come by stoppage.

Prediction

It is not out of the question that this will be the last time we see Chisora in a boxing ring, win or lose on Saturday night, and you wonder if the sun may have set on Joe Joyce's career, should the Juggernaut lose at the O2 Arena.

Chisora is a 20-year fight veteran, a career of 47 heavy-hitting heavyweight contests and the stand and trade style of War means there are few easy bouts for the Finchley fighter.

There is no doubt that the 40-year-old is way past his peak, but Chisora did beat Kubrat Pulev two years ago, and he performed with credit against former world champion Joseph Parker in 2021 and heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk in 2020.

Del Boy can't change his aggressive approach at this stage of proceedings, and it's hard to see how Chisora and Joyce won't meet head-on in London on Saturday night.

Joyce has stopped Daniel Dubois, Carlos Takam and Parker, but his lack of speed and movement was brutally exposed in a pair of defeats to Zhang last year.

Joyce is fresh in terms of professional fights, but the 38-year-old contested 63 amateur bouts and there may not be much left in the Juggernaut's gas tank.

The style of Joyce and Chisora is likely to make it harder for the pair to miss each other than to connect, which is likely to lead to an early finish.
