- Ipswich have won three Championship matches in a row
- Blackburn have found the net in eight of their nine matches played this season
- Recommended bet: Ipswich & Over 2.5 goals

Quiet optimism about Ipswich Town's prospects after going up from League One has been escalated to noisy claims about a second successive promotion push following a flying start to life back in the Championship.

Kieran McKenna's men are looking for a fourth straight league win against a Blackburn Rovers side who have little difficulty finding the net, but who do let goals in.

Team news

Brandon Williams will continue at left-back with Leif Davis out for a couple of weeks, while Kayden Jackson is also an absentee for the hosts.

Defenders Janoi Donacien and Axel Tuanzebe remain sidelined and boss Kieran McKenna said he will make some changes after Tuesday's 1-0 win at Southampton.

Semir Telalovic, a summer signing from Borussia Monchengladbach, is challenging Harry Leonard for a first league start at the top of the Rovers' attack.

It is between those two with Sam Gallagher facing six weeks on the sidelines and Niall Ennis also ruled out.

The stats

Only Ipswich and Manchester City have won at least 20 league games in 2023.

The Tractor Boys have won six out of seven on their return to the Championship.

They have been level at half-time in just one of their seven matches, the lowest number in the division.

Only one of Blackburn's nine games this season has yielded fewer than three goals. Their seven Championship matches have produced 21 goals.

Prediction

Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson was tearing his hair out at Ewood Park on Wednesday night as Blackburn crashed to a 3-1 defeat against Sunderland.

Blackburn were much the better chance and carved out chance after chance but to no avail.

But that has been the story of Blackburn's season, who are averaging over 15 shots per game (in the top eight in that department) but have only nine goals to show for their efforts.

And having to make do up front with Sam Gallagher and Niall Ennis out injured means the issue of not taking chances might not be going away any time soon.

Certainly not at Ipswich, who are ruthlessness itself at the moment and, having had an extra 24 hours to recover from their midweek exertions, they are taken to carve out a seventh win in eight matches since winning promotion.

The Tractor Boys have been super-efficient thus far. Their opening few fixtures perhaps were not the toughest and they were put in their place by Leeds United before the international break, losing 4-3 in a Portman Road thriller.

But since then they have reeled off three straight wins culminating in Tuesday's outstanding 1-0 win at Southampton, a side packed with Premier League quality who Ipswich made look ordinary.

Confidence is pulsing through the Ipswich ranks and back-to-back 1-0 wins will have ticked all of McKenna's boxes.

Blackburn are, though, creating chances and will surely will start taking some soon, but throw a dart at Ipswich and Over 2.5 goals on this occasion.
