Ipswich’s 12-match unbeaten run ended with a 2-0 defeat at West Brom and the Tractor Boys will be looking to bounce back when they take on Millwall at Portman Road on Wednesday.

Kieran McKenna’s side have been in the top two for more than two months and will hope to keep up the pressure on leaders Leicester, who are three points above them.

Millwall went close to reaching the play-offs last season but have struggled for consistency, winning just five of 17 league fixtures this term. 

They lost 3-0 at home to Coventry last Saturday but were 4-0 winners against Sheffield Wednesday on their last road trip.

Ipswich welcomed back Brandon Williams (illness) and Wes Burns (shoulder) for Saturday’s 2-0 loss at West Brom.

Chelsea loanee Omari Hutchinson missed out at the weekend and will have to be assessed, while midfielder Lee Evans (knee) is the only definite absentee.

Lions right back Danny McNamara was ruled out of Saturday’s 3-0 loss at home to Coventry with a knee complaint and is a doubt for the trip to Suffolk.

Goalkeeper Matija Sarkic (quad) also missed out at the weekend and is unlikely to displace Bartosz Bialkowski between the sticks.

Millwall have lost just one of eight Championship away games and are unbeaten on their last six second-tier road trips.

The Lions have scored at least two goals in three of their last four away fixtures, while four of Millwall’s last five fixtures have featured at least three goals.

Prediction

Ipswich are the Championship’s top scorers with 36 goals, but they have not kept a clean sheet since October and could be involved in a high-scoring contest against Millwall at Portman Road.

The Tractor Boys favour an attacking style and had scored in every game this season until Saturday’s defeat, when they failed to register a shot on target.

McKenna’s side should find it easier to create chances against the Lions, who are 19 points below them, but they may struggle to keep the back door shut.

Ipswich have got into a nasty habit of making slow starts and have conceded inside the first 15 minutes in each of their last six fixtures.

They have shipped at least two goals on each of those occasions and will be tested by Millwall, who were 4-0 winners at Sheffield Wednesday in their opening match under Joe Edwards.
