Pellegrino Matarazzo could yet guide Hoffenheim to a top-six finish and a possible Champions League spot.

- Bayern have won just one of their visits to top-half sides this term
- Hoffenheim have won and conceded in three of their last five at home
- Recommended bet:
Hoffenheim to win and both teams to score

Incredibly, a Hoffenheim side who have the third-worst defensive record and sit seventh in the table could yet qualify for next season’s Champions League if they win at home to deposed champions Bayern Munich.

Their 6-0 victory at Darmstadt last weekend has opened the door to them leaping into sixth place on the final day of the Bundesliga season.

Should they finish sixth and Borussia Dortmund shock Real Madrid at Wembley next month, then Hoffenheim would be Germany’s sixth side in next season’s top European competition.

Team news

Hoffenheim are set to finish the season without Stanley Nsoki, Dennis Geiger, Mergim Berisha and Marco John.

Bayern have a lengthy injury list too, which includes top-scorer Harry Kane who is a doubt.

Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala are set to miss out, while Raphael Guerreiro is a definite absentee.

The stats

Bayern have lost two of their last three Bundesliga trips, but Bayer Leverkusen have shut out Bayern on the road this term.

Hoffenheim have failed to keep a clean sheet at home this season.

Bayern have lost three of their last seven league games.

Prediction

Bayern head into this clash as favourites, but Hoffenheim are capable of pushing for sixth with a victory. The visitors have little on the line for this trip and they are unlikely to risk many of their injured forwards, especially on the eve of a major tournament.

Bayern’s likely front four looks poor, with Eric Choupo-Moting set to lead the line. While they should still trouble a Hoffenheim side who have not kept a clean sheet at home this term, the hosts should be able to rally to finish with a victory.

Even at their best, this Bayern side have had a lot of trouble against the Bundesliga’s best on the road. Thomas Tuchel’s side have won one of their seven trips to the rest of the teams in the top half of the table, including four defeats.

Bayern have conceded 18 times across those seven games and they meet a Hoffenheim side who have scored an impressive 62 goals this term.

If Bayern struggle at the back again, it is hard to give them much chance of getting something out of this clash with a weakened forward line.

Hoffenheim should be on a high after last weekend’s 6-0 victory and they can prey on a Bayern side who have lost two of their last three trips, including a 3-2 defeat at ninth-placed Heidenheim.

Hoffenheim have a potentially huge prize on the line here, so back them to win but concede in their final game of the campaign.
